Step 1: Create an Alibaba Cloud account
Before starting your cloud journey, the first step is to have your own Alibaba Cloud account. This article guides you through the registration process.
Before you begin
Whether you are an individual or enterprise user, you only need to prepare a phone number that can receive SMS verification codes before registration. The registration process is the same for both.
After registration, you must complete identity verification before topping up your account or purchasing cloud products. The verification process differs for individual and enterprise accounts. For more information, see What are the differences between individual and enterprise identity verification?. We recommend completing the quick verification process described in this article. You can also register first and complete verification later.
A single phone number can be used to register up to six Alibaba Cloud accounts.
Registration
You can register on the Alibaba Cloud website from a computer or through the Alibaba Cloud App. We recommend registering on a computer for easier subsequent setup.
PC
Go to the Alibaba Cloud official website, click Log In/Register in the upper-right corner, and then click Register. Two registration methods are available.
Register with a phone number
Enter your phone number, request an SMS verification code, and enter it.
(Optional but recommended) Set a logon name and password for your account.
Account name: 5 to 25 characters. We recommend using Chinese characters. Do not include sensitive information such as your name or phone number.
Password: 8 to 128 characters. Must contain at least two of the following: letters, numbers, and punctuation marks.
Read and accept the terms of service, and then click Register Now.
Quick registration by scanning a QR code
Use the Alibaba Cloud App, Alipay App, or DingTalk App to scan the QR code on the page. Then tap to authorize on your phone.
After authorization, the registration is complete. The system automatically uses the phone number bound to the scanning app as the security phone number for the new account.
Alibaba Cloud App
Open the Alibaba Cloud App, tap Log In/Register, and then tap Register in the upper-right corner of the next page.
Read the terms of service and then tap Quick Login with This Phone Number. The system automatically verifies your phone number and completes registration.
Quick identity verification
After you create your account, we recommend that you complete identity verification, which takes only a few minutes.
Before you can add funds to your account or purchase cloud products, you must complete identity verification as required by Chinese law.
Secure your account: If you forget your account name or password, you can quickly recover an account that has been verified.
The following sections recommend the fastest way to complete identity verification for individual and enterprise users using Alipay. If this method is not suitable for you, you can click Sign Up Only to complete the sign-up, or see Identity verification overview to choose another method later.
Individual account
In the quick identity verification section, select Individual Verification and use the Alipay app on your mobile phone to scan the QR code to log on.
On the Service Authorization page, read and check the authorization agreement, and then click Authorize.
The identity verification for your individual account is complete. View the verification result.
Enterprise account
In the quick identity verification section, select Switch to Enterprise Verification. You can search for your enterprise information using the enterprise name or Unified Social Credit Code, or confirm your enterprise information by uploading a business license.
The legal representative of the enterprise first scans the QR code with Alipay, and then completes facial recognition verification in the Alipay app.
You can view the verification result on the enterprise real-name information page in the Account Center. If the legal representative's facial recognition verification fails, you can choose another method to try again. For more information, see Verify your identity - Enterprise account.
Attach a payment method
Completing identity verification does not mean that your Alipay account is attached as a payment method. To purchase cloud products, you still need to add a payment method. For more information, see Top up your account online.
FAQ
Forgot your account name or password
Q: What should I do if I forget my account name or password?
A: You can use the mobile phone number that you provided during sign-up to log on with a verification code. After you log on, you can retrieve or reset your account name and password in the security settings of the Account Center.
Issues with a mobile phone number attached to multiple accounts
Q: How can I check which Alibaba Cloud accounts are associated with my mobile phone number?
A: You can check by logging on with your mobile phone number or by using the find account with mobile phone number feature. The steps are as follows:
Using mobile phone number
Go to this logon link: Log on with mobile phone number. Select the mobile phone number logon method, enter your mobile phone number to obtain a verification code, agree to the terms, and then click Log On.
The page displays all accounts associated with your mobile phone number, as shown in the following figure:
Find with mobile phone number
Go to this query link: Find logon ID with mobile phone number. Select the mobile phone method, enter your mobile phone number to obtain a verification code, and then click Find Now.
After validation passes, the system sends a text message with information about all the member accounts you created on Alibaba Cloud. The page also displays the accounts associated with your mobile phone number, as shown in the following figure:
Q: What should I do if I am told that my mobile phone number has already been used to create the maximum of six accounts?
A:
Use a different mobile phone number to sign up.
If you do not have another mobile phone number, you can unregister other Alibaba Cloud accounts that are associated with the same mobile phone number, and then create a new account. For information about how to unregister an account, see Unregister your Alibaba Cloud account.
If you do not have another mobile phone number and your other accounts are in use and cannot be unregistered, you cannot use this mobile phone number to create a new account.
