Before you install logtail-windows in a Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) cluster, review the plugin information, usage notes, and release notes to choose the version that matches your Windows worker nodes.

Plugin information

logtail-windows is a container log collection plugin used in ACK clusters. logtail-windows works with Simple Log Service (SLS) on Alibaba Cloud to collect logs from Windows containers.

Usage

You must install logtail-windows manually. For the complete log collection procedure, see Collect logs from Windows containers. The following list describes which Windows worker nodes each version of logtail-windows applies to and links to the installation steps for that version:

logtail-windows v1.0.x: applies to all Windows worker nodes. Versions v1.0.20 and later no longer support worker nodes that run Windows Server Core, version 1903. You must adapt your app containers to the Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) and use worker nodes that run Windows Server Core, version 1909 or version 2004. logtail-windows v1.1.x: applies only to Windows worker nodes that already carry the windows.alibabacloud.com/deployment-topology=2.0 label when the nodes are created from a cluster node pool. If you add the windows.alibabacloud.com/deployment-topology=2.0 label to a Windows worker node after the node is created, the node does not support logtail-windows v1.1.x. logtail-windows v1.1.x depends on a privileged proxy process on the Windows worker node. Its image is 90% smaller than the v1.0.x image and starts faster. For the procedure to manually install logtail-windows v1.1.x, see Install Logtail v1.1.x on Windows nodes.
