What is MSHA?
MSHA stands for multi-site high availability. It is a disaster recovery product that helps you build and evolve your disaster recovery architecture as your business grows. It supports various architectures, including intra-city active-active, cross-region active-standby, application-level cross-region active-active, and cross-region active-active.
Architecture for a new local data center
When building a new data center in the same city, the short distance ensures a low and controllable round-trip time (RTT). You have several architectural choices. If cost and modification complexity are key considerations, we recommend the application-level cross-region active-active architecture for multi-cloud scenarios and the intra-city active-active architecture for single-cloud, multi-availability zone scenarios.
Using non-Alibaba Cloud products
No. MSHA is modular and supports both enterprise-grade and open-source components. You can choose from the following strategies:
- Use MSHA for the control plane and the traffic entry point on the data plane, and build your own components for the application layer.
- Use MSHA for the control plane as well as the traffic entry point and database on the data plane, and build your own components for the application layer.
- Use MSHA for the control plane and its supported components on the data plane, such as the traffic entry point, microservices, and messaging. For other components, you can either build them yourself or submit a ticket to check for MSHA support.
