Alibaba Cloud Linux 2, released in March 2019, reached its end of life (EOL) on March 31, 2024. All regular support has ended. Upgrade to Alibaba Cloud Linux 3 to continue receiving security patches and bug fixes.
Many users cannot complete migration before EOL. Alibaba Cloud provides two years of Extended Life Support (ELS) free of charge from the EOL date of March 31, 2024. During ELS, Alibaba Cloud fixes critical and high-severity CVEs and bugs or provides solutions. Lower-impact issues receive on-demand support. Urgent fixes are provided for these key packages: bind, bash, chrony, glibc, gnutls, httpd, kernel, libgcrypt, libvirt, nss, OpenSSH, OpenSSL, Python 2.7, qemu-kvm, RPM, sudo, systemd, wget, and YUM. Other packages are supported on a case-by-case basis.

Alibaba Cloud provides workarounds or mitigations for bugs that cannot be immediately fixed.

Upgrade Alibaba Cloud Linux 2 to Alibaba Cloud Linux 3 using one of these methods:

ImportantReplacing the OS of an ECS instance releases the original system disk and deletes all data on it. Create system disk snapshots to back up data before you proceed. For more information, see Manually create a single snapshot.
