This topic describes the pricing for AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL.

The prices in this topic are for reference only and apply to the China (Beijing) region. The actual prices on the buy page and in your bill prevail.

Public network access to AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL does not incur traffic fees.
Billing method
AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL provides two billing methods:
-
Pay-as-you-go: A post-paid method where you are billed hourly for the resources you use. This method is ideal for short-term needs because you can release instances at any time to save costs.

Subscription: A pre-paid method where you pay upfront when you create an instance. This method is ideal for long-term use and costs less than the pay-as-you-go method.
For AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL in Elastic Storage Mode and Serverless Pro instances, you receive discounts for subscriptions of one year or longer: 15% for one year, 30% for two years, and 50% for three years.
Elastic storage
Elastic Storage Mode is an edition of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, launched commercially in 2020. This edition features an integrated storage and computing architecture, supports elastic scaling, and offers a wide range of specifications. It is available in two instance series: Configuration Fee and High Availability. These series differ in compute specifications and the number of storage replicas. Fees for Elastic Storage Mode consist of four components: Master resource fees, computing resource fees, storage resource fees, and RAG Service fees.
Coordinator node resources
In AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, the Coordinator node is primarily responsible for receiving business requests, query optimization, task distribution, metadata management, and transaction management. AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL uses Coordinator CU (Coordinator Compute Unit) as the standard unit for Coordinator nodes, and offers multiple specifications for you to choose from.

Before January 1, 2024, coordinator node resources were free.

Starting January 1, 2024, coordinator node resources of 8 CU or less are free, while those of 16 CU or higher are billable.

Storage resources
AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL in Elastic Storage Mode provides two Disk Storage Type options :

ESSD (Recommended): Suitable for the High-availability Edition and the High-performance Edition (Basic Edition).
-
Efficient Cloud Disk: Suitable for the High-availability Edition.

The High-availability Edition uses a dual-replica architecture. Therefore, the unit price per GB for Enterprise SSD (ESSD) is twice that of the High-performance Edition (Basic Edition).

The High-performance Edition (Basic Edition) uses a single-replica architecture. The underlying storage uses a three-replica mechanism for high reliability.
-
You can no longer purchase new instances that use ultra disk. Existing instances are not affected.

Serverless
The Serverless edition of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL was commercially released on February 1, 2022. This edition is fully cloud-native, supports pay-as-you-go storage with no pre-provisioning, and enables scaling within seconds. You can flexibly adjust computing resources based on your business needs. This edition also provides new hardware cache acceleration. The fees for the Serverless edition consist of three components: coordinator node resource fees, computing resource fees, and storage resource fees.

This edition is fully cloud-native and features pay-as-you-go storage without requiring pre-provisioning. It supports auto-scaling within seconds, allowing you to flexibly adjust AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL based on your business needs. It also provides all-new hardware cache acceleration. Fees for Serverless Pro consist of charges for AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, and AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL.

Serverless Pro is billed based on ACU (Analytic Compute Unit), the computing power unit for Serverless Pro instances. Alibaba Cloud tracks the number of ACUs used per hour, calculates charges by the second, and generates bills hourly.
