Change ECU configurations

If your current ECU configuration does not meet your requirements, you can change it. This topic describes how to change the ECU configuration in the AnalyticDB for MySQL console.

Your Alibaba Cloud account has no unpaid renewal orders.

Billing rules

Changing the ECU configuration affects your bill. For more information, see Billing rules for changing ECU configurations.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the console, select the region where the AnalyticDB for MySQL database is located.

  3. In the row for the target database, click More > Upgrade/Scale-out or Downgrade/Scale-in.

  4. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, select an ECU Type, specify the Number of ECUs, and then select the AnalyticDB for MySQL (Pay-As-You-Go) Terms of Service check box.

  5. Click Activate and follow the prompts to complete the payment.

    Note: The upgrade or downgrade operation involves underlying data migration. The time required for this operation depends on the data volume. Please wait for the operation to complete.

Example

This example describes how to change the ECU configuration of an AnalyticDB for MySQL database from eight C4 ECUs to four C8 ECUs. The procedure involves two steps:

  1. Upgrade from eight C4 ECUs to eight C8 ECUs.

  2. Scale in from eight C8 ECUs to four C8 ECUs.

The detailed steps are as follows.

  1. Log on to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the console, select the region where the AnalyticDB for MySQL database is located.

  3. For the target database, click More > Upgrade/Scale-out.

  4. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, set ECU Type to C8 and Number of ECUs to 8, and select the AnalyticDB for MySQL (Pay-As-You-Go) Terms of Service check box.

  5. Click Activate and complete the payment. After the upgrade, the database will have eight C8 Elastic Compute Units (ECUs).

  6. When the status of the target AnalyticDB for MySQL database changes to Running, click More > Downgrade/Scale-in for the database.

  7. On the Upgrade/Downgrade page, set Number of ECUs to 4, and select the AnalyticDB for MySQL (Pay-As-You-Go) Terms of Service check box.

  8. Click Activate. Alibaba Cloud will refund the cost difference from the scale-in to your account.

    The configuration change from eight C4 ECUs to four C8 ECUs is now complete.
