This topic describes the supported network types and explains how to create a VPC.
Network types and access methods
AnalyticDB for MySQL supports two network types: classic network and VPC (Virtual Private Cloud).
- classic network: Alibaba Cloud assigns the IP addresses. This network type is easy to configure and use, making it ideal for scenarios that prioritize simplicity.
Clusters in a classic network run on a shared underlying network and are not isolated from each other. They must rely on internal security policies to prevent unauthorized access.
- VPC: A logically isolated private network where you can customize the network topology, manage IP addresses, and connect through dedicated lines. Compared to a classic network, a VPC provides greater security and flexibility.
Create a VPC
- Log in to the AnalyticDB for MySQL console.
- In the upper-left corner of the console, select the region where your cluster is located.
- Click Clusters, and then click Version 2.0 Clusters.
- Find the target cluster and click More > Create VPC.
- In the Create VPC dialog box, select a VPC and a VSwitch, and then click OK. The change takes a few minutes to take effect.
Notes
- If you do not have a VPC and a VSwitch in your cluster's region, create them in the VPC console. For more information, see Step 1 in Build an IPv4 VPC.
- After you create a VPC, the cluster enters hybrid access mode, which means it can be accessed from both the classic network and the VPC.
