An internal DNS server enables centralized domain name resolution for your services, preventing disruptions from external DNS failures or network fluctuations.

Use cases

  • Custom DNS: Tailor DNS settings to your internal network requirements.

  • Internal service resolution: Route requests to backend services within a VPC through the internal DNS server.

  • Hybrid cloud environments: Centrally manage DNS resolution for both internal and external services.

Limitations

You can configure a maximum of five DNS servers.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the AI Gateway console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Instance. In the top menu bar, select a region.

  3. On the Instance page, click the target instance ID.

  4. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Service, then click the Services tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • Click Create Service.

    • In the Actions column of the service that you want to modify, click Edit.

Configure the DNS server

  1. Click More Settings, and then click Click to automatically specify DNS server IP addresses.

After you activate the internal DNS resolution service, Alibaba Cloud assigns an internal DNS server address to your VPC, and the console automatically populates this address. You can configure up to five DNS servers. To add more servers manually, click + Add.

  2. Alternatively, to manually enter a DNS server address, click Add.

Enter the address in the IP:port format.
