Resource groups

Resource groups allow you to organize your cloud resources by purpose, permission, and ownership for hierarchical management across multiple users and projects. A cloud resource can belong to only one resource group at a time, and relationships between resources are not affected when they are added to a resource group.

Usage

  • A resource group can contain cloud resources from different regions. For example, a single resource group can hold instances in both the China (Beijing) and China (Hangzhou) regions.

  • Resource groups inherit the global permissions of a RAM user. For example, a RAM user who is granted permissions to manage all Alibaba Cloud resources can also access all resource groups that belong to your Alibaba Cloud account.

Manage resource groups

For information about how to create, delete, modify, and view resource groups, see .

Configure resource groups

On instance creation

  1. Log on to the API Gateway console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cloud-native API Gateway > Instance. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. On the Instance page, click Create Instance.

  4. On the purchase page, configure the parameters, select a resource group, verify your settings, and then click Buy Now.

    Note

If you do not select a resource group, the instance is automatically assigned to the Default Resource Group.

On domain addition

  1. Log on to the API Gateway console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Domain Name. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. Click Add Domain Name. In the Add Domain Name panel, configure the parameters, select a resource group in the Advanced Configuration section, and then click Create.

Adding a domain name does not automatically register the domain or configure its DNS records. You must separately register the domain and set up its DNS records to point to the instance endpoint. The Domain Name field supports fully qualified domain names (such as www.hello.com), wildcard domains (such as *.hello.com), and the * wildcard character. The Resource Group field defaults to the Default Resource Group.

On API creation

  1. Log on to the API Gateway console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cloud-native API Gateway > API. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. On the APIs page, click Create on the card for the desired API type. In the panel that appears, configure the parameters, select a resource group in the Advanced Configuration section, and then click Confirm.

Filter instances by resource group

  1. Log on to the API Gateway console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Cloud-native API Gateway > Instance. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. In the top menu bar, click All Resources and select the target resource group to filter the instance list.
