Change an ASM instance edition

Procedure

1. Log on to the ASM console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Service Mesh > Mesh Management.

2. On the Mesh Management page, find the instance that you want to change and click Specification change in the Operator column.

3. On the Specification change page, select the new instance edition, accept the Service Agreement, and then click Update Service Mesh.

   Note

   When you upgrade a Standard Edition or Professional Edition instance created before July 12, 2023 to a commercial edition, the ASM gateway restarts. Perform this change during off-peak hours. For more information about billing, see Billing rules.

   • Standard Edition instances:

     • For version 1.10.5.50 or later, you can manually change the instance edition to a commercial edition in the ASM console.

     • For versions earlier than 1.10.5.50, you must first upgrade the instance to version 1.10.5.50 or later. Then, you can manually change the instance edition to a commercial edition. For more information, see Upgrade an ASM instance.

   • For Professional Edition instances created before July 12, 2023, the instance edition is automatically changed to a commercial edition.

4. Activate the pay-as-you-go service.

   If you are upgrading an instance to a commercial edition for the first time, an Error Message dialog box appears, prompting you to activate the pay-as-you-go service.

   In the Error Message dialog box, click Activate Now. Select the ASM (Pay-as-you-go) Terms of Service checkbox and click Enable.

   After you activate the pay-as-you-go service, ASM starts to change the instance edition. On the Mesh Management page, the instance's Instances Status changes from Updating to Created.

5. Optional: Restart the application pods in the data plane clusters.

   To use the features of the new edition, restart the application pods.
