Enable the smart monitoring dashboard

Updated at:

This topic describes how to enable the smart monitoring dashboard for a Cloud Architecture Design Tool (CADT) application and configure resource monitoring alarms.

Prerequisites

  1. You have purchased the smart monitoring dashboard. If not, see Purchase a smart monitoring dashboard.

  2. You have configured Enterprise Cloud Monitor. If not, see Create an Enterprise Cloud Monitor instance.

  3. For demonstration, this topic uses a pre-deployed sample application. The application includes cloud resources such as VPC, ECS, RDS, and SLB. A topology diagram shows the network connections between these resources.

Enable the smart monitoring dashboard

  1. Log on to the Cloud Architecture Design Tool (CADT) console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Intelligent Monitoring > Enterprise Cloud Monitor.

  2. On the Monitoring Dashboard page, find the sample application in the Enterprise Cloud Monitor to be enabled list. This list displays the name and status of each application.

  3. Click this application and wait for Enterprise Cloud Monitor to be enabled successfully. The application is then added to the Enterprise Cloud Monitor Enabled list. The page displays two lists at the same time, and you can watch the application move from the To Be Enabled list to the Enabled list.

  4. Confirm that the application appears in the Enterprise Cloud Monitor enabled list, and then click Next.

  5. On the Cloud Product Metrics page, customize the cloud product metrics to display on the smart monitoring dashboard.

    1. Find the cloud product you want to configure. If a required metric is not in the current list, click Select Metrics. The configuration page displays a table of all cloud products and their selected monitoring metrics. You can manage metrics for each product from the Operations column.

    2. In the panel, select the required metrics, and then click OK.

    3. In the product metrics list, use the Move Up and Move Down actions in the Operations column to reorder the metrics. The top five metrics in the list are displayed on the product icons in the architecture diagram. This prioritizes which metrics are visible at a glance.

    4. After you complete the configuration, click Monitoring Dashboard at the top of the page.

  6. For a newly enabled application, performance metric data may take some time to appear on the smart monitoring dashboard. The dashboard displays the application's architecture diagram in a dark theme, with real-time performance metrics such as CPU utilization and memory usage overlaid on each resource node.

Smart monitoring dashboard usage

For information about the page layout and detailed instructions on how to use the dashboard, see Using the smart monitoring dashboard.

Alarm service

The alarm service marks resources that have triggered an alarm on the smart monitoring dashboard and displays relevant alarm information. An alarm is triggered when a monitored metric reaches its threshold, which helps you promptly detect abnormal data. For more information, see Alarm service.
