Create and run a process

Updated at:

This topic describes how to create an operation process for an application in CADT by using the drag-and-drop designer.

Prerequisites

  • You must be on the CADT process allowlist.

Create a new process

To create a new process from scratch, click New > Process. To use an official template, click New > Official Solution > Process.

The New drop-down menu in the top navigation bar of the CADT console contains the Process and Official Solution options.

Select Official Solution to view a list of process templates. Choose a template to create your new process.

Edit the process

Note

The following example shows how to tag an ECS instance.

  1. Add operations: From the resource list on the left, drag the following three nodes onto the canvas. A process must begin with a start node, end with an end node, and have all nodes connected sequentially.

The three icons are start, Add tags to ECS (the tag key-value pair is ecs_type:test), and end, arranged from left to right in the drawing area.

  1. Connect the nodes: Select the connection tool from the toolbar and connect the three nodes in sequence on the canvas. The arrow on the connector indicates the execution order of the process.

  1. Save the process: Click Save in the upper-right corner. In the dialog box, enter a name for the process and click OK.

  1. Add configuration items: Double-click the ECS operation node to open the configuration pane on the right. Enter the key-value pair for the tag. After configuring all nodes, click Save to save their configuration items.

  1. Verify the process: Click Verify to validate the node configurations. If errors are found, follow the prompts to modify the process. Double-clicking an error prompt highlights the invalid node, which you must then correct.

Run the task

  1. Click Run Task.

  1. Associate a resource instance from your application with a process node. To do this, click Bind Instance, then select the application and the resource instance. For this example, you are associating a target ECS instance with the tagging operation node.

  1. Enter a task name and click Next.

The Task Creation panel includes a Task Name input box and information about the associated process node instance.

  1. In the parameters pane, set the required values for the ECS tagging operation, and then click Save and Run. This action creates and starts the task.

  1. An execution information dialog box appears, displaying the task status, operation instance ID, and any errors.

  1. When the task completes, you can click the instance ID to go to the corresponding console and verify the result.

On the instance details page in the ECS console, check the Tags section to confirm that the ecs_type:test tag was added.
