Heterogeneous cloud resource discovery
The heterogeneous cloud resource discovery feature of Cloud Architect Design Tools (CADT) lets you discover resources on third-party public cloud providers. Supported providers include AWS (China/Global), Tencent Cloud, and Huawei Cloud. After the discovery process, you can obtain a resource list and generate an architecture diagram. The service offers two modes: online and offline.
Features
Online mode
This mode requires a read-only AccessKey (AK) and SecretKey (SK) for your third-party cloud account. The following steps use Tencent Cloud as an example:
Log on to the Cloud Architect Design Tools (CADT) console. Click Resources > Third-party Cloud Resources.
Click Register. Select the cloud service provider. Enter the read-only AK/SK for your account on that provider. Click OK.
In the list of cloud service providers, find the provider that you added and click Resource Discovery. Follow the prompts to complete the configuration. Then, click Confirm to start the task.
The discovery results can be viewed in two ways: by network or by resource type.
Select the resources that you want to use to generate an architecture diagram. The following figure shows an example of the generated diagram.
Offline mode
If you are concerned about providing a read-only AK/SK, you can use the offline mode. This mode requires you to download a data collector and install it on a machine that has public network access. This machine can be any server.
Click Download Offline Collector. Upload the collector to a server or virtual machine with public network access. After you decompress the package, you will find three files: cadt-collector-agent.jar, start.sh, and stop.sh. Run the `chmod +x` command to add executable permissions to the .sh files.
Run the start.sh script to start the collector.
1. Access the collector at http://IP:9000/index. Select the provider and the discovery region.
2. Enter the AK/SK for your user account on the cloud provider.
3. Click Next, and then click Start Collection.
4. Monitor the collection process and the data file list. When the collection is 100% complete, click Next. Then, click Download and check the downloaded data. If the data is correct, upload it to the CADT service for data analytics.
5. In the CADT console, go to the Third-party Cloud Resources page. Select the cloud service provider that matches your data source, and then click Resource Discovery. In the dialog box that appears, select the Data Upload option and upload the data.zip file.
6. Click OK to start data analytics. The rest of the analysis process is the same as in the online mode. For more information, see the steps in the Online mode section.
