SAE migration assessment tool

Updated at:

If an application deployed on Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances needs to be migrated to Serverless App Engine (SAE) instances, you can use the SAE migration assessment tool to estimate the migration costs. This tool obtains the CPU utilization and memory usage of ECS instances by using CloudMonitor, automatically matches SAE instances of the same specifications, and compares the yearly subscription prices of the ECS and SAE instances.

Procedure

In the top navigation bar of the Cloud Architect Design Tool (CADT) console, choose Migration > SAE Migration Assessment Tool.

  1. Create a virtual machine (VM) server group.

Before you create a VM server group, select Alibaba Cloud from the drop-down list as the service provider, and click +.

Enter the name of the server group in the Name field. Then, select a zone. In this example, Beijing is selected as the zone. Select the servers that you want to add to the server group, and click OK to create the server group.

  2. Obtain metric data.

In this step, the data of ECS metrics in the server group is obtained. Select the server group whose metrics you want to obtain, and select the period of time during which the system monitors the metrics. In this example, the period of time is from 2024-11-12 09:00:00 to 2024-11-14 16:00:00. Then, click OK.

Click Obtain Metrics. Wait for a period of time. The system obtains the metrics in the specified period of time.

  3. Generate a report for comparison.

To generate an SAE migration assessment report, select Beijing server group from the VM Server Group drop-down list, and click Generate SAE Assessment. You can check the generated report to compare the yearly subscription prices of the ECS and SAE instances and view the SAE specifications.
