Acceleration regions
CDN routes traffic to edge nodes based on the acceleration region you select. Each domain name is assigned one region, and you can change it at any time.
Acceleration regions
| Region | How traffic is routed | ICP filing required | Use when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chinese Mainland Only | All requests go to edge nodes in the Chinese mainland. Requests from outside the Chinese mainland go to edge points of presence (POPs) managed by China Telecom (East China Division). | Yes | Your users are primarily in the Chinese mainland. |
| Global | All requests go to the nearest edge POP. | Yes | Your users are distributed globally, including the Chinese mainland. |
| Global (Excluding the Chinese Mainland) | All requests go to edge POPs in Hong Kong (China), Macao (China), Taiwan (China), or other countries and regions outside the Chinese mainland. Requests from the Chinese mainland go to POPs in Japan, Singapore, or Hong Kong (China). | No | Your users are entirely outside the Chinese mainland. |
An Internet Content Provider (ICP) filing is a registration required by the Chinese government for domain names serving users in the Chinese mainland. For ICP filing requirements, see Limits.
Before switching to Global (Excluding the Chinese Mainland), make sure no traffic is coming from the Chinese mainland. Clients in the Chinese mainland cannot reach POPs inside the Chinese mainland after the switch. Clear your local DNS cache after changing the region.
