The self-service diagnostics tool helps you pinpoint CDN issues—such as page load failures or slow responses—without opening a support ticket. Run a diagnostic task against any domain name in your account, then use the results to fix your configuration or decide whether to escalate.
When to use this tool
Use this table to identify which diagnostic output you need based on your symptom:
| Symptom | Recommended output | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Domain name is unreachable | Diagnostics report | Scheduling status, domain name status |
| Slow response or high latency | Diagnostics link + report | Response duration, response speed |
| Suspecting a CDN configuration issue | Diagnostics report | Abnormal items, scheduling status |
| Verifying the client reaches CDN correctly | Diagnostics link | Local IP address, ISP, request duration |
| Proactive health check | Diagnostics report | Domain name status, scheduling status |
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
A domain name added to Alibaba Cloud CDN (see Add a domain name)
The domain name in the Enabled state
A valid CNAME record configured for the domain name (see Add a CNAME record for a domain name)
The diagnostics tool works only with domain names in the current account. If the domain name is in a sandbox or blacklist, acceleration performance may be affected.
Run a diagnostic task
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud CDN console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Tools.
In the Self-service Diagnostics Tool section, click Try Now.
On the Self-service Diagnostics Tool page, click Create Diagnostic Task.
In the Create Diagnostic Task dialog box, enter a full URL in the Diagnostic URL field, then click Verify.
ImportantEnter a complete URL (for example,
https://example.com/path), not just a domain name. Entering only a domain name returns an error. In the Diagnostics section, copy the diagnostics link.

To check client-side connectivity: Share the link with the affected user, or open it yourself. Each visit generates a client-side report showing request duration, cache duration, local IP address, and Internet service provider (ISP).
To investigate CDN-side issues: Return to the Self-service Diagnostics Tool page and click View Report in the Actions column.
The diagnostics link expires after 2 hours and can be visited up to 10 times.
Understand and act on the results
The tool produces two types of output:
| Output | Data shown | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostics link | Request duration, cache duration, local IP address, ISP | You need to verify that the client is reaching CDN correctly, or you want the affected user to capture their own connection data |
| Diagnostics report | Diagnostics status, scheduling status, abnormal items, domain name status, response duration, response speed | You need to investigate CDN configuration issues, scheduling problems, or abnormal items on the CDN side |
Act on report findings
| Field | If abnormal | Suggested action |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduling status | Traffic is not routed through CDN nodes correctly | Verify that the CNAME record is configured and propagated. See Add a CNAME record for a domain name. |
| Domain name status | Domain name is not in the Enabled state | Go to the CDN console and enable the domain name. |
| Abnormal items | One or more configuration issues detected | Review each flagged item and apply the recommended fix. If the issue persists, submit a ticket. |
| Response duration / Response speed | Latency or throughput is outside the expected range | Modify your CDN configurations or submit a ticket based on the results. |
What's next
If the diagnostics report identifies a fixable configuration issue, update your CDN settings based on the results.
If the issue cannot be resolved, submit a ticket for the support team to review.
