How to choose a product type

Alibaba Cloud CDP offers two product types: Basic Edition and Professional Edition. Each edition provides a different set of features. This topic describes how to select and view your product type and details the differences between the two editions.

Choose and view a product type

When you create a cluster, select the product type that you need in the Software Configuration section of the purchase page. The product type cannot be changed after the cluster is created.

Note

To open the cluster creation page, go to the Create CDP Cluster page and click Create CDP Cluster. For more information about how to create a cluster, see Create a cluster.

To view the product type of an existing cluster, go to the Cluster Management page in the CDP console.

  • Runtime: Includes about 50 open source components, including common storage and compute components.

  • Cloudera Manager: Manages, monitors, and configures clusters and services.

  • Apache Atlas: Provides metadata management and governance services to manage data assets in CDP clusters.

  • Apache Ranger: Provides auditing, identity verification, and authorization features.

  • Includes approximately 50 open-source components from the Basic Edition, along with management tools such as Cloudera Manager, Apache Atlas, and Apache Ranger.

  • Improves upon the Basic Edition by supporting decoupled compute and storage. This lets you scale compute and storage resources independently.

  • Provides container-based data services that support dynamic scaling and independent upgrades.

Data services

Does not provide scenario-based data services. You can use components in Runtime to build the features you need.

Billing items

Billing is based on instance type, disk capacity, and the number of instances.

The Basic Edition instance types include the following:

  • Master

  • Utility

  • Core
