This topic describes the CDP scale-in feature and its procedure.

Introduction to CDP scale-in

  • You can scale in a CDP cluster that has excess compute or storage resources. Currently, you can scale in only the nodes in Core node groups.

  • When you scale in a CDP cluster, refunds are provided for the associated ECS hardware and software orders from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace.

  • After the scale-in process is complete, you can submit a ticket in the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace console to request a refund for software fees. The service provider will provide a prorated refund for the unused portion of the software. Currently, software fee refunds for a scale-in operation are available only for the software associated with hardware orders from a previous scale-out operation.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloudera Manager console and take the host nodes offline as described in the CDP scale-in documentation.

  2. On the Host List page, click an ECS node name to go to the ECS console. Release the ECS nodes that you want to scale in. You can release the nodes one by one or in a batch from the ECS console. For more information, see Release an instance.

  3. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace console. In the navigation pane on the left, click Purchased Services. Select the software product that corresponds to the order for the scaled-in nodes, and then submit a ticket to request a software fee refund.
