This topic describes the billing rules for inter-region data transfer of Cloud Data Transfer (CDT).
Billing rules
The billing rules for data transfer vary by product:
Global Accelerator (GA) and Anycast Elastic IP Address (EIP): Billed based on the higher of the inbound or outbound traffic, metered in each region.
Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) peering connections, and Express Connect Router (ECR): Billed based on outbound traffic, metered in each region.
CEN and VPC peering connections: Support two service levels for inter-region connections: Platinum and Gold. Other inter-region products only support the Gold service level.
ImportantIf you switch the service level within a billing cycle, all data transfer fees for that cycle are calculated using the unit price of the higher service level.

Applicable scenarios
CEN
VPC peering connections
Platinum
99.995%
Suitable for services that are highly sensitive to link jitter and latency, such as stock trading, online voice calls, video conferencing, and real-time gaming.
CEN
VPC peering connections
Anycast EIP
GA
ECR
Gold
99.95%
Suitable for services that are not sensitive to link quality, such as data synchronization and file transfers.
Inter-region traffic fees are classified into two types:
Data transfers within borders: Data is transferred between regions in the Chinese mainland, or between regions outside the Chinese mainland.
Cross-border data transfers: Data is transferred between a region in the Chinese mainland and a region outside the Chinese mainland. This service is operated and sold by China Unicom.
NoteFor GA, the fees for cross-border traffic vary based on the selected network quality type:
Premium bandwidth for cross-border acceleration: The price of cross-border traffic is CNY 6.4 per GB.
China Unicom leased line for cross-border acceleration: The price of cross-border traffic is CNY 5.6 per GB.
Pricing tables
Data transfer pricing is symmetrical between any two regions.

Billing example
The following billing example is for reference only. Your bill shows the actual fees.
A company has VPCs in the China (Shenzhen) and China (Hangzhou) regions. At 09:00:00, the company creates a cross-region connection using an Enterprise Edition transit router, with the bandwidth metering method set to pay-by-data-transfer and the service level set to Platinum. At 09:35:00 on the same day, the company switches the service level to Gold.
Assume that within the first billing cycle, 200 GB of traffic is sent from Shenzhen to Hangzhou and 100 GB is sent from Hangzhou to Shenzhen. In the next billing cycle, 200 GB is sent from Shenzhen to Hangzhou. The fees are calculated as follows:
Billing cycle (09:00:00 to 10:00:00): CNY 0.72/GB (unit price for Platinum in Shenzhen) × 200 GB + CNY 0.72/GB (unit price for Platinum in Hangzhou) × 100 GB = CNY 216
Billing cycle (10:00:00 to 11:00:00): CNY 0.48/GB (unit price for Gold in Shenzhen) × 200 GB = CNY 96
