Send messages to users through Messenger.

Prerequisites

  • A Messenger template is created. Design a Messenger template.

  • A user has sent a message to your Facebook Page.

    Note
    • Users must initiate conversations. You cannot send the first message.

    • When a user messages your Page or starts a conversation via a web plug-in, a 24-hour standard messaging window opens. You can send messages within this period, starting from their last message.

    • A list of user actions that open the standard messaging window follows.

Procedure

To send a Messenger message:

  1. Log on to the Chat App Message Service console. Choose Channel Management in the left navigation pane. Click the Channel ID of the Messenger channel that you want to manage.image

  2. Navigate to the Message Sending page. On the right, configure the following parameters:image

    Language

    The language of the message template.

    Send Message

    Click Select Template to select an approved template. Only Messenger templates matching your selected language are shown.

    Send Account

    The Facebook Page.

    Send Type

    • Timing Send: Sends the message at a specified time.

    • Immediately: Sends the message as soon as you click Send.

    Import Method

    Import recipient numbers using one of the following methods.

    • Upload Excel File: Best for bulk sends:

      1. Click Download Template and enter the recipient numbers in the template file.

      2. Click Upload File.

    • Import Phone Number Group: Best for small batches. Select this option, then click Add Phone Number to enter recipient numbers manually.

    Note
    • Recipients must have messaged your Page within the last 24 hours, or delivery fails.

    • The Download Template button is available only after you select a message template.

    • Templates with variables require the Upload Excel File method. Do not change column headers in the template file, or variable mapping may fail.

  3. After you configure the settings, click Send.

User actions that open a standard messaging window

The following user actions open a standard messaging window. Respond within 24 hours — users can block or mute conversations at any time.

  • A user sends a message to your Page or Instagram professional account

  • A user clicks a call-to-action button such as Get Started within a conversation

  • A user clicks a Click-to-Messenger ad and messages your Page or Instagram professional account

  • A user opens an m.me link to an existing conversation with the Page

  • A user opens an ig.me link to an existing conversation with the Instagram professional account

  • A user reacts to a message, such as a marketing message

  • A user comments on a post on your Page or Instagram professional account

  • A user publishes a visitor post on your Page
