Restore a VMware virtual machine (VM) from the Cloud Backup console to an on-premises server or the vCenter Server of Alibaba Cloud VMware Service (ACVS).
Prerequisites
You have backed up your VMware VM. Back up a VMware virtual machine.
Background
-
If a VMware VM fails, restore it from the Cloud Backup console to an on-premises server or Alibaba Cloud VMware Service to maintain business continuity.
-
Starting from version 1.0.13, the VM backup service supports centralized backup and restore management in the Cloud Backup console. Manually migrate any existing offline backup plans to the Cloud Backup console.
Procedure
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
-
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
-
In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region.
-
On the Backup Jobs tab, find the target backup job, and in the Actions column, click Restore to VMware.
Note-
You can restore the VM to an on-premises VMware environment or Alibaba Cloud VMware Service.
-
The restore creates a new VM named
random-prefix-original-vm-name. The original VM is not affected.
-
-
In the Create Restore Job panel, sequentially select the VM to restore, Select Destination, the Select Compute Node, the Select Storage, the Select Network, and Confirm.
ImportantWhen restoring an encrypted VM, configure an encrypted storage policy. If you enable Lan-Free transfer, Cloud Backup hot-attaches the disk to a disaster recovery gateway for data transfer. If the disk cannot attach to the gateway or the gateway is not encrypted, Cloud Backup automatically falls back to LAN transfer.
-
Click Create.
On the Restore Jobs tab, view the restore progress and data restored.
