By default, if a local NAS backup fails or a client disconnects from the Cloud Backup service, Cloud Backup sends an alert by SMS or email to the Alibaba Cloud account. To send alerts to a RAM user, create a custom alert rule and specify the desired alert contacts or alert contact groups.
If a backup job fails or a client disconnects from the Cloud Backup service, the specified alert contacts or alert contact groups receive an alert.
Step 1: Set alert contacts
An alert contact is the recipient of backup alerts. Follow these steps to set one:
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the navigation pane on the left, click Notification Contacts.
On the Alert Contacts tab, click Create Contact.
In the Create Contact panel, enter the Contact Name and other required information.
Select a Notification Methods, complete the required configuration, and then click OK.
Email
If you select Email as the contact method, enter the Email and click Send. Log on to your email account to retrieve the verification code, and then return to the Cloud Backup console to enter the Verification Code.
Text Message
If you select Mobile as the contact method, enter the Mobile and click Send. The system sends a text message with a verification code to your phone. Enter the Verification Code that you receive.
NoteOn the Alert Contact page, you can view information for all alert contacts.
Click Edit to modify a contact's email address and mobile phone number.
Contacts that are assigned to an alert rule or added to a contact group cannot be deleted.
Step 2: (Optional) Set a contact group
If you want multiple people to receive alert notifications, you can create a contact group to simplify management. After you add alert contacts to the group, a notification is sent to all members of the group when an alert is triggered.
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left navigation pane, select Notification Contacts.
On the Groups tab, click Create Group.
In the Create Group panel, enter a Group Name.
Select the contacts to add to the group and click the rightwards arrow button. The selected contacts will then appear in the Selected Contacts box.
Click OK.
NoteThe Alert Contact Group page displays all contact groups and the number of members in each group.
To edit a contact group, click Edit.
Contact groups that are assigned to an alert rule cannot be deleted.
Step 3: Configure a custom backup alert rule
By default, the Cloud Backup service sends alerts by SMS or email to the Alibaba Cloud account. If you configure a custom alert rule, it overrides the default settings for the local NAS backup.
You can configure a custom backup alert rule in one of the following ways:
Backup vault
An alert rule for a backup vault applies to all local NAS backups in that vault. If you do not configure a separate alert rule for a specific local NAS backup, it uses the vault's alert settings by default. To configure an alert rule for a backup vault, follow these steps:
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

In the left-side navigation pane, click Storage Vaults.

Find the backup vault that you want to configure. In the Actions column, choose .

In the Alert Notification Method panel, select an Alert Notification Method and click OK.

Notify Alibaba Cloud Account
Alerts for all local NAS backups in the vault are sent by email or SMS to the Alibaba Cloud account.
Custom
Select one or more alert contacts or contact groups. Once configured, alerts for all local NAS backups in the vault are sent to the selected contacts or groups.
Local NAS backup
You can configure a separate alert rule for an individual local NAS backup. This rule overrides the vault-level alert rule. To do so, follow these steps:

On the NAS Backup - Local NAS page, select the region of your local NAS data source, and then click View Details on the right side of the data source.

Switch to the Backup Plan tab. In the Actions column for the backup plan, choose .

In the Alert Notification Method panel, select an Alert Notification Method and click OK.
