By default, Cloud Backup sends an SMS or email alert to the Alibaba Cloud account when a CPFS backup job fails or a client disconnects from the Cloud Backup service. To send alerts to a RAM user, configure custom alert settings and specify an alert contact or alert contact group.
The specified alert contact or alert contact group receives alerts when a backup job fails or a client disconnects.
Step 1: Set alert contacts
An alert contact is the recipient of backup alerts. Follow these steps to set one:
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the navigation pane on the left, click Notification Contacts.
On the Alert Contacts tab, click Create Contact.
In the Create Contact panel, enter the Contact Name and other required information.
Select a Notification Methods, complete the required configuration, and then click OK.
Email
If you select Email as the contact method, enter the Email and click Send. Log on to your email account to retrieve the verification code, and then return to the Cloud Backup console to enter the Verification Code.
Text Message
If you select Mobile as the contact method, enter the Mobile and click Send. The system sends a text message with a verification code to your phone. Enter the Verification Code that you receive.
NoteOn the Alert Contact page, you can view information for all alert contacts.
Click Edit to modify a contact's email address and mobile phone number.
Contacts that are assigned to an alert rule or added to a contact group cannot be deleted.
Step 2: (Optional) Set a contact group
If you want multiple people to receive alert notifications, you can create a contact group to simplify management. After you add alert contacts to the group, a notification is sent to all members of the group when an alert is triggered.
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left navigation pane, select Notification Contacts.
On the Groups tab, click Create Group.
In the Create Group panel, enter a Group Name.
Select the contacts to add to the group and click the rightwards arrow button. The selected contacts will then appear in the Selected Contacts box.
Click OK.
NoteThe Alert Contact Group page displays all contact groups and the number of members in each group.
To edit a contact group, click Edit.
Contact groups that are assigned to an alert rule cannot be deleted.
Step 3: Customize backup alert rules
Cloud Backup sends SMS or email alerts to the Alibaba Cloud account by default. A custom alert rule for CPFS backup overrides this default behavior.
You can customize backup alert rules in two ways:
Backup vault
An alert rule for a backup vault applies to all CPFS backup clients within it. This rule is inherited by each CPFS file system unless you configure a specific rule for that file system.
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

In the left-side navigation pane, click Storage Vaults.

Find the desired backup vault. In the Actions column, click .

In the Alert Notification Method panel, select an Alert Notification Method as needed. Click OK.

Notify Alibaba Cloud Account
Alerts for all CPFS backup clients in the backup vault are sent by SMS or email to the Alibaba Cloud account.
Custom
Select one or more alert contacts or contact groups to receive alerts for all CPFS backup clients in the backup vault.
CPFS file system
You can configure a specific alert rule for an individual CPFS backup client. This rule overrides the alert rule set at the backup vault level.

On the CPFS Backup - Protected CPFS Data Sources page, select the region of the target CPFS data source, and then find the data source and click View Details in the Actions column.
NoteIf you are using the old console (where Try New Version is displayed in the upper-right corner), go to the Data Source List tab and click the
icon next to the target Data Source Name/ID. -
Go to the Backup Plans tab. Find the backup plan and in the Actions column, click .

In the Alert Notification Method panel, select a different Alert Notification Method. Click OK.
