Create and manage alert rules. If monitoring data meets the specified conditions, an alert notification is sent to all contacts in the alert contact group.
Background information
Cloud Connector is monitored using Cloud Monitor. You can use Cloud Monitor to set alert rules based on specific metrics. When an alert rule is triggered, Cloud Monitor sends a notification by email or text message to all contacts in the specified alert contact group.
Create an alert rule
You can create alert rules for your cloud connector instances in the Cloud Monitor console. When a monitoring metric meets the conditions specified in an alert rule, Cloud Monitor automatically sends an alert notification. This helps you stay informed about the status of your cloud connector instances.
Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose Cloud Service Monitoring.
On the Cloud Service Monitoring page, you can find the cloud connector in one of two ways:
In the Network area, click Cloud Connector.
Enter Cloud Connector in the text box in the upper-left corner and click Cloud Connector.
On the Cloud Connector page, select the region where the instance is located, and then click Create Alert Rule in the upper-right corner.
On the Create Alert Rule page, configure the alert rule parameters, and then click Confirm.
The following table describes the parameters that are specific to cloud connector instances. For more information about other parameter settings, see Create an alert rule.
Parameter
Description
Product
Select Cloud Connector.
Resource Scope
The scope of the alert rule. This topic uses Instance as an example. Valid values:
All Resources: The alert rule applies to all cloud connector instances under the current Alibaba Cloud account.
Instance: The alert rule applies only to specific cloud connector instances under the current Alibaba Cloud account.
Rule Name
The name of the threshold alert rule.
Rule Description
The main body of the alert rule. The rule is triggered when monitoring data meets the specified alert conditions.
For example: If the rule description is set to The average value of Connections for an Internet of Things (IoT) cloud connector instance over a 5-minute epoch is >= 5000 for 3 consecutive epochs, it means the alert service checks the number of connections for the IoT cloud connector instance every 5 minutes. If the number of connections is greater than or equal to 5,000 for three consecutive checks, an alert is reported.
Mute Period
The interval at which a repeated alert notification is sent if the alert is not resolved. Valid values:
5 Minutes
15 Minutes
30 Minutes
60 Minutes
3 Hours
6 Hours
12 Hours
24 Hours
When a monitoring metric reaches its threshold, an alert is sent. If the metric continues to exceed the threshold during the mute period, no repeated alert notifications are sent. If the metric has not returned to normal after the mute period, Cloud Monitor sends another alert notification.
Effective Time
The period when the alert rule is active. The rule checks monitoring data and sends alerts only during this period.
Notification Recipient
The contact group that receives alert notifications.
Alert notifications for the application group are sent to the contacts in this alert contact group. An alert contact group is a group of one or more alert contacts. For more information about how to create alert contacts and alert contact groups, see Create an alert contact or an alert contact group.
Alert Level
The notification method for the alert. Valid values:
Phone + Text Message + Email + DingTalk Robot (Critical)
Text Message + Email + DingTalk Robot (Warning)
Email + DingTalk Robot (Info)
NoteTo receive alerts by phone, first purchase a phone call resource plan and select Phone + Text Message + Email + DingTalk Robot (Critical). For more information about how to purchase a phone call resource plan, see Purchase a phone call resource plan.
Manage alert rules
You can view the alert rules for each cloud connector instance in the Cloud Monitor console. You can also view, modify, disable, or delete an alert rule as needed.
On the Cloud Connector page, select the region of the instance whose alert rules you want to view, and then click View Alert Rules in the upper-right corner.
On the View Alert Rules page, click the Threshold Alert tab to view your alert rules.
On the Threshold Alert tab, find the alert rule that you want to manage. Then, in the Operations column, select an action. The actions are described as follows:
View: View the alert rule details.
Alert History: You can view the alert history for a specified time period.
Modify: Modify an alert rule. For more information, see Manage alert rules.
Disable: Disables the selected alert rule. A disabled rule is not triggered even if the monitoring data meets the trigger conditions.
Delete: Deletes the selected alert rule. A deleted rule cannot be recovered and must be re-created.
