Overdue payments

Your payment becomes overdue when the combined balance of your account balance and vouchers falls below the amount due. This topic describes how overdue payments affect subscription and pay-as-you-go Cloud Firewall resources, and how to check your overdue amount.

Important

Settle overdue payments promptly to avoid service interruption. Alibaba Cloud sends notifications before your resources are affected.

Impacts

Subscription resources

An overdue payment does not immediately stop your Cloud Firewall. However, it has the following impacts:

  • Burstable protected traffic stops working normally.

  • Auto-renewal fails.

  • If you do not renew your subscription in time, Alibaba Cloud automatically releases your Cloud Firewall.

Pay-as-you-go resources

When a fee deduction fails, Cloud Firewall enters a staged suspension process:

StageWhat happens
Extended suspension periodCloud Firewall continues running. You are still charged for usage. An SMS notification is sent each day if your extended suspension quota is sufficient.
15-day suspension without service interruptionStarts after the extended suspension period expires. Cloud Firewall continues running but stops generating new bills.
Resource releaseStarts on the 16th day of suspension. Cloud Firewall resources are released and all protection features stop.

The following diagram illustrates the pay-as-you-go suspension timeline:

Extended suspension

The extended suspension service applies when Cloud Firewall cannot deduct fees from your account.

If your extended suspension quota is sufficient:

  • Cloud Firewall continues running during the extended suspension period.

  • You are still charged for resource usage.

  • An SMS notification is sent each day.

  • After the extended suspension period expires, a 15-day suspension without service interruption begins.

If your extended suspension quota is insufficient:

  • Cloud Firewall is suspended.

  • Cloud Firewall continues running but stops generating new bills.

The extended suspension quota is not a fixed maximum overdue amount. It is automatically calculated and updated monthly based on your account's consumption history. Resources used before the overdraft threshold is exceeded are billed normally.

Bill push

Pay-as-you-go Cloud Firewall bills are generated daily. Fees are deducted from your account balance at 18:00 on day T+1.

When fee deduction fails:

  • With an extended suspension quota: Cloud Firewall continues pushing bills during the extended suspension period. The last bill is pushed on the second day after the extended suspension quota expires. Fees for the day the quota expires are calculated on a 24-hour basis.

  • Without an extended suspension quota: The last bill is pushed on the second day of the suspension date. Fees for the day the deduction fails are calculated on a 24-hour basis.

Service recovery

To retain your configurations and resume all Cloud Firewall features, settle your overdue payments within the extended suspension period. After payment is complete, Cloud Firewall automatically resumes normal operations.

Resource release

If Cloud Firewall remains suspended for more than 15 days, the system automatically releases all Cloud Firewall resources and stops all protection features on the 16th day.
