Cloud Firewall supports self-service unsubscription for subscription instances and self-service release for pay-as-you-go instances. This page covers what happens to your data, the refund rules for each billing method, and how to release an instance.

Before you begin

After you unsubscribe from or release a Cloud Firewall instance, configuration data is retained for 7 days. Retained data includes access control policies, protection policies, and traffic analysis policies. During this window, you can re-enable the instance and recover your configuration.

Warning

After 7 days, all data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Log analysis statistics are not retained even within the 7-day window.

Scope

  • Subscription instances (Unsubscribe)
You cannot release subscription instances directly. To end the service early, you must unsubscribe. The instance is then automatically released. You can unsubscribe at any time after the service starts. Your refund is based on the amount displayed on the opt-out page.

  • Pay-as-you-go instances (Release)
You cannot opt out of pay-as-you-go instances. If you no longer need the service, release the instance in the console to stop future charges. No refunds are provided.

Unsubscribe from a renewal period that has not yet started

A full refund is available for renewal orders that have not yet started.

Five-day unconditional full refund

You can apply for a full unconditional refund within five days of purchase. Note the following special cases:

  • If you downgrade the instance within five days and then apply for a five-day unconditional full refund, the refund amount is based on the price after the downgrade, not the original order price.

  • If you renew, upgrade, or increase bandwidth for the instance within five days, you are not eligible for a five-day unconditional full refund.

Note

Each user can apply for one five-day unconditional full refund per calendar year. Alibaba Cloud reserves the right to deny refund requests for malicious unsubscriptions.

Partial refund

A partial refund is issued for a subscription product if the request does not meet the rules for a five-day unconditional full refund.

Refund amount = Original payment amount - Consumed amount

  • Usage duration < 30 days: Consumed amount = (Daily subscription price × Usage duration in days × Applicable discount) × 1.5

    For example, you purchased a 90-day subscription. The original price was 2,000 and the actual payment was 1,000. If you request a refund on the 29th day, the refundable amount is: 1,000 - (2,000 / 90) × 29 × 1.5 = 33.33.

  • Usage duration ≥ 30 days: Consumed amount = Daily subscription price × Usage duration in days × Applicable discount

For example, you purchased a 90-day subscription. The original price was 2,000 and the actual payment was 1,000. If you request a refund on the 30th day, the refundable amount is: 1,000 - (2,000 / 90) × 30 = 333.33.

Pay-as-you-go

Self-service unsubscription

Pay-as-you-go Cloud Firewall instances are billed in real time based on usage. Therefore, refunds are not applicable. If you no longer need a pay-as-you-go Cloud Firewall instance, you can release it. Before you release the instance, make sure that you have backed up or migrated your data and that your business is not affected.

Billing stops immediately after the instance is released. However, the bill for a pay-as-you-go instance is generated on day T+1 after the release. Therefore, you receive the final bill on day T+1.

Note

You can manually release a subscription Cloud Firewall instance from 15 days before its expiration date to 7 days after its expiration date. However, no refund is provided for an early release. For more information, see Release a subscription instance.

Self-service release

For release steps, see Release a subscription instance.

Pay-as-you-go instances

Pay-as-you-go instances are billed in real time based on usage, so refunds are not applicable.

Release a pay-as-you-go instance
