Adjust your Cloud Firewall edition, specifications, bandwidth, and billing method to optimize costs and resource usage.

Note
  • Business impact: Self-service upgrades and downgrades do not affect your services.

  • Applicable editions: Only subscription Cloud Firewall instances (Premium Edition, Enterprise Edition, and Ultimate Edition) support upgrades and downgrades.

Modifiable configurations

Effective October 15, 2025, Cloud Firewall introduces Billing Method 2.0. New instances use Billing Method 2.0 by default. Existing instances purchased before this date continue to use Billing Method 1.0. Modifiable configurations vary by billing method.

Billing Method 2.0

  • Upgrade or downgrade the current Cloud Firewall instance edition.

  • Increase or decrease configuration specifications for the current edition: Number of Scalable Firewall Instances, Scalable Firewall Bandwidth, and Log Storage Capacity.

  • Enable or disable feature modules, including Network Detection and Response (NDR), Sensitive Data Leak Detection, and Log Analysis.

  • Perform a Temporary Bandwidth Upgrade.

Billing Method 1.0

  • Upgrade or downgrade the current Cloud Firewall instance edition.

  • Increase or decrease configuration specifications for the current edition: Number of Public IPs Protected by Internet Firewall, throughput of Internet Firewall, Number of NAT Firewall Instances, throughput of NAT Firewall, Number of VPC Firewall Instances, throughput of VPC Firewall, Quota for Additional Policy, and Log Storage Capacity.

  • Enable or disable feature modules, including Network Detection and Response (NDR), Elastic Throughput, Sensitive Data Leak Detection, and Log Analysis.

  • Perform a Temporary Bandwidth Upgrade.

Upgrade

Upgrade considerations

  • Specification limits: New specifications cannot exceed the limits of your current edition.

  • Cost difference: You pay the price difference on upgrade. The final price is displayed on the Cloud Firewall purchase page.

Upgrade recommendations

Before you upgrade, log on to the Cloud Firewall console. On the Overview page, review your current edition and purchased specifications. Decide whether to upgrade based on usage, business requirements, costs, and edition limits.

Common upgrade scenarios:

  • If multiple items exceed your current edition limits, upgrade the edition to expand protection capacity.

  • If only a single item exceeds its purchased specification, upgrade only that item.

Important

If your protection requirements exceed specification limits, security effectiveness may be compromised. Regularly review your specification usage and maintain sufficient capacity for future demands.

Procedure

Upgrade the edition, increase configurations, or enable feature modules. The expiration date remains the same as your original subscription.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Firewall console.

  2. On the right side of the Overview page, click Upgrade.

  3. On the Upgrade page, review your current specifications. Select the target edition and specifications, or enable feature modules as needed.

  4. Read the service agreement, select I have read and agree to the Cloud Firewall Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now to complete the payment. The changes take effect immediately.

Temporary bandwidth upgrade procedure

Temporary Bandwidth Upgrade increases throughput on a daily basis for public, VPC, and NAT private traffic. At the specified restoration time, throughput automatically reverts to its pre-upgrade level. The upgrade must stay within your current edition limits and be shorter than your subscription period.

Important

If you perform a standard specification upgrade to increase peak bandwidth before the temporary upgrade reverts, Cloud Firewall uses the new bandwidth and the temporary upgrade becomes void.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Firewall console.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the Overview page, choose More > Temporary Upgrade.

  3. Select the throughput specifications and restoration time that meet your business requirements.

  4. Read the service agreement, select the checkbox for the Cloud Firewall Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now to complete the payment. The upgrade takes effect immediately.

Downgrade

If your current specifications exceed your needs, downgrade configurations or disable unused feature modules to reduce costs.

Downgrade considerations

  • Specification limits: Downgraded specifications cannot be lower than the defaults for your current edition or the specifications currently in use.

  • Refund rules: Downgrading generates a refund for the price difference based on remaining subscription period and new specifications. The refund amount is displayed on the downgrade page. Downgrade and unsubscribe.

  • View refunds: After the downgrade, you can go to the Expenses and Costs page. In the left-side navigation pane, choose to view the refund details.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloud Firewall console.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the Overview page, choose More > Downgrade.

  3. On the Downgrade page, reduce specifications for the current edition or set unused feature modules to No as needed.

  4. Read the service agreement, select I have read and agree to the Cloud Firewall Terms of Service, and then click Buy Now to confirm the downgrade.

View updated specifications by clicking Purchased Specs in the upper-right corner of the Overview page.
