To ensure your website service runs without interruption, monitor the expiration date of your web hosting instances in the Web Hosting console and renew them promptly to prevent downtime. This topic describes how to renew one or more web hosting instances.

Important considerations

  • About renewals

    • For renewal discounts on your web hosting instance, see the Confirm Order section on its Renew page. Discount policies may vary by instance and depend on the information displayed on the renewal page in the Web Hosting console.

    • Renewal scope: If you have added extra web space to your shared web hosting, the renewal fee covers both the web hosting instance and the additional web space.

    • Effective time: A renewal takes effect in about 3 to 5 minutes. Your website becomes accessible once the renewal is complete.

      Important

If your website remains inaccessible after the renewal is complete, try restarting the web hosting instance or clearing your browser cache.

  • Impact of instance expiration

    • Before expiration or within 15 days after expiration: Your website and database data are not yet released. Back up your data and renew the instance as soon as possible.

    • Renewal within 15 days after expiration:

      • Manual renewal: The new service period starts from the original expiration date.

For example, if your web hosting instance expires on March 1, 2021, and you successfully renew it for one year on March 10, 2021, the new expiration date will be March 1, 2022.

      • Automatic renewal: Ensure your account has a sufficient prepaid balance to cover the renewal fee. If an automatic deduction fails due to insufficient funds within 15 days before the expiration date, the renewal will fail.

    • More than 15 days after expiration: If an instance is not renewed within 15 days after its expiration, the system automatically releases it. Once released, the instance and its data cannot be recovered or renewed. Back up your website data in advance to prevent data loss. For instructions, see Back up and restore data.

    • Within 20 days before the expiration date: You cannot enable automatic renewal. Use manual renewal to prevent service interruptions.
