Periodically reset the administrator account password for your advanced hosting instance to improve your website's security. You can also reset the password if you forget it. This topic uses a Xianghe instance as an example to demonstrate how to reset the password in the hosting management console.

Note

advanced hosting includes Fenghe, Xianghe, and Duhe instances. Exclusive Web Hosting is a different product from a Duhe instance and does not have an administrator account.

Procedure

Important

The new password takes effect only after you restart the host in the hosting management console. A restart interrupts your services. To avoid service disruptions, perform this operation outside peak hours.

  1. Log on to the Web Hosting management page.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Fenghe/Xianghe/Duhe.

  3. On the Host List page, on the All Hosts tab, find the desired host and click Manage in the Actions column.

The Host List page lists details for your hosts, such as their names, types, domain names, auto-renewal status, and expiration dates. To access a host's management portal, click Manage on the far right of its row.

  4. On the Host Details page, click Manage Password to reset the administrator account password.

Above the Basic Information section are buttons such as IP Address Record, View Status, and Host ICP Filing. Below this section, details such as the hostname, product type, and administrator account are displayed.

    • On Windows, the default administrator is administrator.

    • On Linux, the default administrator is root.

  5. Click Restart.

The new password takes effect after the host restarts. You can then use it to log on to the hosting management console.
