When a server runs for an extended period, issues like data redundancy, high CPU load, or high memory usage can slow it down or cause it to crash. To prevent this, restart your server (Web Hosting or Advanced Web Hosting) periodically during off-peak hours. Shared Web Hosting does not support server restarts.
Precautions
A host restart can take up to 15 minutes. During this time, operations on the host will not be processed. Wait for the restart to complete before performing other operations.
Restarting the host during peak hours interrupts your services. To avoid this, perform the operation during off-peak hours.
Procedure
- Log on to the Cloud Web Hosting management page.
Restart your host.
The restart procedure varies by host type.
Exclusive web hosting
Find the host you want to restart and click Manage in the Actions column.
At the top of the Host Management Console, click Restart Server.
In the dialog box that appears, click OK.
On the Host Information page, in the Basic Server Information section, the restart is complete when the server status returns to Running.
Light cloud server
The following example shows how to restart a Light Cloud Server Elite Edition.
Find the Light Cloud Server host that you want to restart and open the Host Management Console.
In the top navigation bar, click the Host Information tab.
In the Basic Server Information section, click Restart Server in the upper-right corner.
The restart is complete when the server status returns to Running.
Advanced web hosting
Advanced Web Hosting includes Fengyun Host, Xiangyun Host, and Exclusive Host plans. Note that an Exclusive Host plan is different from Exclusive Web Hosting, and the latter does not provide an administrator account. The following example shows how to restart a Xiangyun Host.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Fengyun Host/Xiangyun Host/Exclusive Host.
On the Host List page, find the desired Xiangyun Host and click Manage in the Management column.
On the Host Details page, click Restart in the upper-right corner.
The restart is complete when the server status returns to Running.
