After registering a domain name and completing real-name verification, you must resolve it to an IP address for online access. For dedicated Web Hosting instances or some shared Web Hosting plans that do not support CNAME resolution, you must add an A record to point your domain name to the host's IP address.
Prerequisites
You have registered a domain name and completed real-name verification. For more information, see Alibaba Cloud Domains .
Procedure
Choose the appropriate method based on where your domain name is registered.
Alibaba Cloud domains
If your domain name is registered with Alibaba Cloud, you do not need to manually add it in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console. Instead, bind the domain name in the Cloud Web Hosting Management Console. This action automatically creates the required A record, pointing your domain name to the host's IP address. For detailed instructions, see Bind a domain name.
Third-party domains
If your domain name is registered with a third-party provider, you must first add your primary domain name or a subdomain to the Alibaba Cloud DNS console before you can configure its DNS records.
- Log on to the Cloud Web Hosting management page.
- Find the Cloud Web Hosting instance you want to manage and click Manage in the Actions column.
- In the navigation pane on the left, click Host Information.
-
On the Host Information page, find and copy the IP address of your instance.
-
Add an A record for your domain name.
For detailed instructions, see How do I configure DNS records for a domain name that is not registered with Alibaba Cloud?.
NoteWhen you add the A record in Alibaba Cloud DNS, set the record value to the IP address that you copied in Step 4.
