When a visitor requests a page on your website that does not exist, the server returns a 404 status code and displays a 404 error page. A custom 404 error page lets you guide visitors to other relevant content, improving the user experience and preventing them from leaving your site. This topic describes how to set a custom 404 error page in the hosting management console. The example uses a Standard edition of exclusive web hosting that runs the Linux operating system.
The entry-level edition of shared web hosting does not support custom 404 error pages. To use this feature, upgrade your Web Hosting instance to a higher edition. For more information, see Upgrade a Web Hosting instance.
