Use the self-diagnosis feature

Cloud Web Hosting provides a self-diagnosis feature for your site. You can use this feature to quickly identify and resolve problems with your system environment and site configuration, such as issues with web space or domain names.

Background information

The self-diagnosis feature is available for Enhanced Edition Cloud Web Hosting instances that run the Linux operating system.

  • Hosts in data centers in other locations include Exclusive Economy Enhanced Edition, Exclusive Value Enhanced Edition, Exclusive Professional Enhanced Edition, and Exclusive Premium Enhanced Edition.

Note

Some Standard Edition Cloud Web Hosting instances that run Linux also support the self-diagnosis feature. The availability of this feature is indicated in the Cloud Web Hosting console.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Cloud Web Hosting management page.

  2. Find the Cloud Web Hosting instance that you want to diagnose and click Manage in the Actions column.

  3. In the navigation pane on the left, click Self-diagnosis.

  4. On the Self-diagnosis page, select an issue category and start troubleshooting.

    You can select a problem category to diagnose an issue. The procedure is as follows:

    If the issue persists after you use the self-diagnosis feature, submit a ticket.

    Problem Category

    Procedure

    Web space

    Analyzes your web space usage.

    1. Click Web Space Issues.

    2. Select Web space is full.

    3. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the diagnosis results and recommended actions. For example, the results show the space usage of each folder on your site. After the diagnosis is complete, click Diagnose Again to return to the Self-diagnosis page.

    Domain name

    Troubleshoots domain name access and configuration issues.

    Note

    The self-diagnosis feature is not supported for temporary domain names provided by Cloud Web Hosting.

    1. Click Domain Name Issues.

    2. Select one of the following options: Cannot access domain name, 301 redirect not effective, Cannot attach and parse domain name, or HTTPS not effective.

    3. Select the domain name to diagnose.

      If you select Cannot access domain name, Cannot attach and parse domain name, or HTTPS not effective, select a specific domain name. If you select 301 redirect not effective, select both a source and a destination domain name.

    4. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the diagnosis results and recommended actions. For example, you can check the domain name details, the HTTP 301 status code configuration, and the Nginx or Apache configuration. After the diagnosis is complete, click Diagnose Again to return to the Self-diagnosis page.

    Site access

    Troubleshoots site access issues that are not caused by domain name configuration problems.

    1. Click Cannot Access Site.

    2. Select Cannot access site.

    3. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the diagnosis results and recommended actions. For example, you can check the CPU, memory, and bandwidth usage, and the number of site connections. After the diagnosis is complete, click Diagnose Again to return to the Self-diagnosis page.

    Basic environment settings

    Troubleshoots issues with settings such as the default index page, HTTP 301 redirects, and 404 pages.

    1. Click Basic Environment Settings.

    2. Select one of the following options: Failed to set default index page, Failed to set HTTP 301 redirect, or Failed to set 404 page.

      If you select Failed to set HTTP 301 redirect, select both a source and a destination domain name.

    3. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the diagnosis results and recommended actions. For example, you can check whether the disk is full, the file system is read-only, and the 404 page configuration is correct. After the diagnosis is complete, click Diagnose Again to return to the Self-diagnosis page.

    Advanced environment settings

    Troubleshoots issues with advanced environment settings, such as PHP.INI.

    1. Click Advanced Environment Settings.

    2. The selected PHP.INI Setting failed.

    3. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the diagnosis results and recommended actions. For example, you can check whether the disk is full and the file system is read-only. After the diagnosis is complete, click Diagnose Again to return to the Self-diagnosis page.

    File management

    Troubleshoots issues with file operations, such as failures to upload, modify, or delete files.

    1. Click File Management.

    2. Select one of the following options: Failed to upload file, Failed to modify file, or Failed to delete file.

    3. Select the folder path or the file that you want to diagnose.

      If you select Failed to upload file, select the path of the destination folder. If you select Failed to modify file or Failed to delete file, select the file that has an issue.

    4. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the diagnosis results and recommended actions. For example, you can check whether the disk is full, the file system is read-only, the filename contains garbled text, and the file permissions are correctly set. After the diagnosis is complete, click Diagnose Again to return to the Self-diagnosis page.

    Directory analysis

    Analyzes the number of files and the disk space usage in your directories.

    1. Click Directory Analysis.

    2. Select Analyze file directory.

    3. Click Start Troubleshooting.

      View the detailed diagnosis results. For example, the Directories with the most files area shows the folder paths and the number of files in each folder. The Directories with the largest file space area shows the folder paths and their disk space usage.

    Note
    • The displayed folder paths vary based on the type of Cloud Web Hosting instance. For Enhanced Edition Cloud Web Hosting instances, the folder path starts with /data/user. For some Standard Edition Cloud Web Hosting instances, the folder path starts with /usr/home/site_name.

    • On the Diagnosis Results page, the system displays the top 10 folders ranked by the number of files and space usage. If the total number of folders is less than 10, all folders are displayed.
