Monitor the performance experience of a target page

Browser monitoring lets you retrieve request and response data from real browsers that access your monitored object. This feature collects data from different regions and network environments and shows the loading performance of all elements and resources on the target page. This topic provides an example of how a developer for the Taobao website can use browser monitoring to understand the site's loading performance when users access it from different mobile browsers.

Prerequisites

Make sure that you have activated Network Analysis and Monitoring. For more information, see Activate Network Analysis and Monitoring.

Step 1: Create a browser monitoring task

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left navigation pane, select Network Analysis and Monitoring > Browser Probe.

  3. On the Monitoring Tasks tab, click Create Task.

  4. On the Create Task page, configure the parameters for the browser monitoring task.

    For more information about the parameters for a browser monitoring task, see Use a script to record and assert the execution results of specific business logic.

    • Basic Information

      Enter a Task Name. For Monitoring Address, enter <a href="https://www.taobao.com/" id="6f2e82fe45uju">https://www.taobao.com/</a>. For Browser and Device, select Chrome and Firefox under Mobile. Keep the default values for all other parameters.

    • Select Detection Points

      Use the default detection points.

    • Set Alert Rule

      Use the default availability alert rule.

    • Configure Alert Contact Group

      Select a contact group. Keep the default values for the other parameters. For information about how to create an alert contact group, see Create an alert contact or an alert contact group.

  5. Click Create.

Step 2: View the browser monitoring results

After you create a browser monitoring task, you can view its results. If you receive an alert for an abnormal detection, you can analyze the cause from the alert details or use the detection results to troubleshoot the issue.

  1. In the navigation pane, choose Network Analysis and Monitoring > Browser Monitoring.

  2. On the Monitoring Tasks tab, click the name of the target monitoring task.

    You can view the analysis report and the details of any abnormal results.
