A resource plan is a subscription billing method that offers discounts. After you enable the pay-as-you-go billing method for Network Analysis and Monitoring, you can purchase a network probe quota resource plan. The probes from the resource plan are used to offset your usage first. Any usage that exceeds the quota is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Important

You must enable the pay-as-you-go billing method for Network Analysis and Monitoring before you can purchase a resource plan.

Purchase a resource plan

Purchasing the right resource plan can help you reduce costs. The following table provides details.

Network Analysis and Monitoring resource plan

Site monitoring (scheduled network probes)

  • PC

Assume that you have enabled the pay-as-you-go billing method for Network Analysis and Monitoring. On June 1, 2024, you purchase a resource plan with a quota of 2,000,000 network probes. You then create a site monitoring task from a PC. The task probes 20 China Mobile detection points, 10 AWS detection points, and 5 Last Mile detection points in mainland China. The probe frequency is 5 minutes. As of July 1, the remaining number of probes in your resource plan is calculated as follows:

    1. Number of detections for China Mobile = (60 minutes / 5 minutes) × 24 hours × 30 days × 20 detection points = 172,800

    2. Total monthly AWS detections = 60 minutes ÷ 5 minutes × 24 hours × 30 days × 10 detection points = 86,400

    3. Last Mile probes in mainland China = (60 minutes / 5 minutes) × 24 hours × 30 days × 5 detection points = 43,200 probes

    4. Remaining probes = 2,000,000 - 172,800 - (86,400 × 5) - (43,200 × 20) = 531,200 probes

  • Mobile

Assume that you have enabled the pay-as-you-go billing method for Network Analysis and Monitoring. On August 1, 2023, you purchase a resource plan with a quota of 1,000,000 network probes. You then create a site monitoring task from a mobile client. The task probes 2 China Mobile detection points. The probe frequency is 5 minutes. As of September 1, the remaining number of probes in your resource plan is calculated as follows:

    1. The number of detections for China Mobile is calculated as follows: 60 minutes ÷ 5 minutes × 24 hours × 31 days × 2 detection points ÷ 10,000 = 1.7856. This value represents a total of 17,856 detections.

    2. Remaining probes = 1,000,000 - (17,856 × 36) = 357,184 probes

Browser probing

Assume that you have enabled the pay-as-you-go billing method for Network Analysis and Monitoring. On July 1, 2023, you purchase a resource plan with a quota of 1,000,000 network probes. You then create a browser probing task. The task probes an Alibaba Cloud detection point in the Shanghai region and an Alibaba Cloud detection point in the London region. The probe frequency is 5 minutes. As of August 1, the remaining number of probes in your resource plan is calculated as follows:

  1. Number of detections in the Alibaba Cloud Shanghai region = (60 minutes / 5 minutes) × 24 hours × 31 days × 1 detection point = 8,928

  2. Probes from the Alibaba Cloud London region = (60 minutes / 5 minutes) × 24 hours × 31 days × 1 detection point = 8,928 probes

  3. Remaining probes = 1,000,000 - (8,928 × 10) - (8,928 × 50) = 464,320 probes

Important
  • For more information about the offset policies for resource plans, see Resource plan offset rules.

  • Network probe usage from the first day is offset when the bill is generated on the second day.

  • The billing examples are for reference only. The actual fees are subject to the prices on the product purchase page.

Resource plan offset rules

The following table describes the offset rules for network probe quota resource plans.

Offset rule

Description

Validity period

A resource plan is valid for one year. If the quota is not used up by the expiration date, the plan expires and the remaining quota is cleared.

Offset time

The resource plan takes effect immediately after purchase.

The network probes used on the first day are offset when the bill is generated on the second day.

Offset policy

  • Site monitoring (scheduled network probes)

    • PC

      • Carrier detection points in mainland China: Each probe consumes 1 probe from your resource plan (1:1 ratio).

      • Carrier detection points outside mainland China: Each probe consumes 5 probes from your resource plan (1:5 ratio).

      • Last Mile detection points in mainland China: Each probe consumes 20 probes from your resource plan (1:20 ratio).

    • Mobile

Carrier detection points in mainland China: Each probe consumes 36 probes from your resource plan (1:36 ratio).

  • Browser probing

    • Carrier detection points in mainland China: Each probe consumes 10 probes from your resource plan (1:10 ratio).

    • Carrier detection points outside mainland China: Each probe consumes 50 probes from your resource plan (1:50 ratio).

Offset order

You can purchase multiple resource plans. If you have more than one resource plan, they are used in the following order:

  • The resource plan that expires first is used first.

  • After the quota of a resource plan is used up, any additional usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

View resource plan details

After you purchase a resource plan, you can check its usage at any time to effectively manage your resources.

  1. Log on to the Expenses and Costs console.

  2. In the left navigation pane of Expenses and Costs, click Account > Resource Plan, select the Resource Plan radio button, and then go to the Usage Details tab to view your resource plan usage.
