Important

Starting from 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on April 14, 2025, Cloud Monitor will no longer provide the Kubernetes container monitoring feature for new users. For more information, see Announcement on the discontinuation of the Kubernetes container monitoring feature of Cloud Monitor. We recommend that you use Managed Service for Prometheus for container monitoring. For more information, see Container observability.

Create alert rules for clusters, nodes, or Container Group (pods) of Container Service for Kubernetes. When a rule condition is met, Cloud Monitor sends an alert notification to help you identify and resolve container service issues.

Prerequisites

Create an alert rule

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Cloud Resource Monitoring > Container Service ACK.

  3. On the Container Service Monitoring page, find the target cluster and click Alert Rules in the Actions column.

  4. On the Alert Rules page, click Create Alert Rule.

  5. In the Create Alert Rule panel, set the parameters for the alert rule.

    Parameter

    Description

    Resource Range

The resources to monitor. Valid values:

    • Cluster: Monitors the target cluster. Select a cluster name.

    • Node: Monitors all or specified nodes in the target cluster. Select a cluster and its nodes.

    • Container Group (pod): Monitors all or specific container groups of an application in a specified namespace. Select the cluster and namespace, then select the Application and Container Group (pod) from the Deployment, StatefulSet, DaemonSet, Job, or CronJob tab.

      Note

On the Container Group tab, you only need to select one or more Container Group (pods).

    Rule Description

The condition that triggers an alert when monitoring data meets the threshold.

    Mute Period

    • The interval for resending an alert notification if the alert level remains unchanged. Valid values: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours.

    • When a monitored metric reaches an alert threshold, an alert notification is sent. During the mute period, no new notifications are sent unless the alert level changes (including returning to normal) or the mute period expires.

      Note

The Alert History page distinguishes between two silencing scenarios: the mute period for a single-resource alert, and a broader suppression state that affects alerts from multiple resources.

    Effective Period

The time range during which the alert rule is active. Cloud Monitor evaluates monitoring data only within this period.

    Alert Callback

A publicly accessible HTTP URL that receives alert notifications from Cloud Monitor via POST requests. For more information, see Use alert callbacks for threshold-based alerts.

    Alert Contact Group

    • The alert contact group that receives alert notifications.

    • Alert notifications are sent to the contacts in the selected alert contact group. A group can contain one or more contacts.

    • For more information about how to create alert contacts and alert contact groups, see Create an alert contact or an alert contact group.

  6. Click OK.
