Cloud Monitor centrally manages system events and custom events for your cloud products. You can set alert rules for these events to receive alert notifications when an anomaly occurs. This helps you quickly analyze and resolve issues.

Background information

Note

The legacy system event alert rule feature is no longer being upgraded and will be phased out. We recommend that you use the new event subscription feature instead. For more information about how to create a subscription policy, see Create a subscription policy.

The following table describes the event types and Alibaba Cloud services that CloudMonitor supports.

Event type

Description

Supported Alibaba Cloud services

System event

CloudMonitor provides a unified portal to query system events for Alibaba Cloud services. This helps you monitor the operational status of your services and receive alert notifications.

Custom event

Use the custom event reporting API of CloudMonitor to report anomalous activities of a target Alibaba Cloud service to CloudMonitor. This helps you monitor the operational status of the service and receive alert notifications.

All Alibaba Cloud services supported by CloudMonitor.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Access Center > Custom Event.

  3. On the Custom Event page, click the Event-triggered Alert Rule tab.

  4. Click Create Alert Rule.

  5. In the Create/Modify Event Alert panel, set the parameters for the custom event-triggered alert rule.

Only the HTTP protocol is supported. For more information about how to set an alert callback, see Use a threshold-triggered alert callback.

To test the connectivity of the alert callback URL, perform these steps:

    1. Click Test next to the callback URL.

In the Webhook Test panel, you can check the connectivity of the alert callback URL and troubleshoot issues based on the returned status code and test result details.

      Note

You can also set the Callback Template Type and Language for the webhook and then click Test again to view the test result details.
