Compute Nest offers three user roles: software developer, software service provider, and software distributor. The process for configuring account information in the Compute Nest console differs for each role. This topic describes the settings for each user role.

Role overview

Compute Nest offers three user roles: software developer, software service provider, and software distributor. Compute Nest provides different features for each role. The following table provides details.

Software developer settings

Host O&M settings

On the Compute Nest - Settings page, you can configure the following items in the Hosted O&M Settings section:

Enable screen recording for remote connection

If you enable this feature, Compute Nest records videos of operations performed on ECS instances for later review.

After you enable this feature, you must configure the following settings:

  1. OSS bucket: Select the region and name of the OSS bucket where the recording files are stored. If you do not have an OSS bucket, see OSS Quick Start to create one.

  2. Recording save path: Specify the path to save the recording files.

  3. Recording retention period (days): Set the number of days to retain the recording files.

    We recommend that you set the retention period to at least 90 days.

Enable log delivery by ActionTrail

If you enable this feature, service providers can view Host O&M operation information. This includes all access to and usage of Alibaba Cloud products and services through the Alibaba Cloud console, OpenAPI, and developer tools.

Software service provider and distributor settings

While a software developer only needs to complete real-name verification, a software service provider or distributor must submit an application in the Compute Nest console for approval.

Application for service provider or distributor

  1. On the Compute Nest - Settings page, apply to become a service provider or distributor depending on the permissions you need.

    Note

    You can also apply to become a service provider or distributor on the welcome page of the console.

    • Apply to become a service provider

      On the application page, enter the required information and click Submit a service for review.. The top of the onboarding page displays benefits such as free SaaS capabilities, at least 60,000 RMB worth of free cloud resources, a 3-month commission waiver on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace, and access to the Alibaba Cloud channel network. In the Information section, provide the following details: Company name and Company English name (which cannot be changed after submission), Company website, and Company introduction (including main products and services). You must also upload a Company logo (recommended resolution: 192 × 192 pixels, JPG or PNG format). Select your Industry and select the applicable options under Product delivery method (SaaS, license, API, desktop software, or other).

    • Apply to become a distributor

      On the application page, enter the required information and click Submit a service for review.. On the onboarding page, provide your company information. Required fields include Company name, Company English name, Company website, and Company introduction. Optional fields include Company logo and Industry. Under Product delivery method, select the applicable options (SaaS, license, API, desktop software, or other).

  2. After Compute Nest approves your application, you will receive the corresponding permissions.

Edit information

After your application is approved, you can view and edit your basic role information on the Compute Nest - Settings page.

  • View information

    On the Settings page, you can view basic information such as the Account name, English name, and Service provider homepage.

  • Edit information

    In the upper-right corner of the Service Provider Information page, click Edit Information. In the Edit Information dialog box, edit the basic service provider information.

    Note

    On this page, you can only modify the provider icon, description, and homepage. The provider name cannot be changed.

Host O&M settings

Click Modify to modify the configuration items as needed. When you are finished, click Save.

In the Host O&M settings section, you can configure the following items:

Host O&M access IP

Specify the IP addresses for Host O&M operations. You can set one or more IP addresses, or an IP address range.

Require MFA for Host O&M

If you enable this feature, users must enter a dynamic verification code from an MFA device in addition to their username and password during login. This enhances security. For more information, see What is MFA?.

    We recommend that you set the retention period to at least 90 days.

Deployment permission settings

If service deployment is restricted, users must complete a permission application the first time they deploy the service.

In the Service Deployment Permission Settings section, click Modify next to Permission application form. On the form editing page, enter the form item names and help text, and then click Save Form. The editing page is divided into the UI editor on the left and the UI preview on the right. The default required fields, Name, Phone, and Email, cannot be modified. You can add custom fields, such as Company. After you finish editing, click Save form. All services under your account share this application form, and the latest saved version is always used.

Service support settings

Service providers can offer consultation and real-time assistance to users by configuring support channels, such as phone, email, or group chats.

In the Service Support section, click Modify, fill in the required information, and click Save.

For a Support group, you can select a group type (such as WeChat group) and enter the group ID. For the Group QR code, the uploaded image must have an aspect ratio of 1:1 and be in JPG or PNG format. Note the expiration date of the QR code.

Deployment package namespace settings

Compute Nest provides an independent scope for deployment packages to prevent conflicts caused by identical names. This setting applies to deployment packages for container images, files, and Helm charts. The namespace can be set only once and cannot be modified.

In the Deployment Package Namespace Settings section, click Modify, enter the required information, and click Save.
