Cloud Storage Gateway provides iSCSI gateways that you can configure, manage, and optimize. This topic is an overview of iSCSI gateway operations.

Operations and optimization

  • Manage iSCSI gateways

Create, delete, and rename iSCSI gateways in the cloud. You can manage multiple gateway instances and view their status and performance metrics in the Alibaba Cloud console. For more information, see Manage iSCSI gateways.

  • Manage tags

Add tags to gateways to classify, manage, and quickly locate specific gateway resources. For more information, see Manage tags.

  • Upgrade gateways

If the current configuration does not meet your business requirements, you can upgrade the gateway for better performance. For more information, see Upgrade gateways.

Data management and access

  • Manage caches

Each iSCSI volume uses a cache disk to accelerate data uploads and downloads. Proper cache configuration can significantly improve access speed and system performance. For more information, see Manage caches.

  • Manage iSCSI volumes

Create, delete, and modify iSCSI volumes, and configure Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) authorization. For more information, see Manage iSCSI volumes.

  • Use iSCSI volumes

    • Use volumes on Windows

Install the iSCSI initiator and connect to the iSCSI target provided by Cloud Storage Gateway to use an iSCSI volume as a local disk in Windows. For more information, see Use volumes on Windows.

    • Use volumes on Linux

Use the iscsiadm command line interface to discover and connect to iSCSI targets, then format and mount the volume. For more information, see Use volumes on Linux.

Network and log management

  • Configure networks

Configure network settings to ensure that Cloud Storage Gateway can communicate with external networks. Proper network configuration is essential for correct gateway operation. For more information, see Configure networks.

  • Log management

Upload logs with one click from the Cloud Storage Gateway console for viewing and analysis. Log management helps with troubleshooting and performance optimization. For more information, see Log Management.

Monitoring

View the real-time running status and performance metrics of iSCSI gateways, such as CPU utilization, memory usage, network traffic, and storage usage. For more information, see Monitoring.

Software upgrade

Upgrade the gateway software regularly to stay up-to-date and receive new features and security patches. For more information, see Upgrade.
