This topic describes how to connect to and use iSCSI volumes on a Windows operating system.

Prerequisites

  • An iSCSI gateway is created. For more information, see Create an iSCSI gateway.

  • A cache is created. For more information, see Manage caches.

  • An iSCSI volume is created. For more information, see Create an iSCSI volume.

  • The Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service is enabled on your Windows operating system.Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service服务

Connect to a volume

  1. Log on to the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) console console.

    Note
    • If your local host is connected to an Alibaba Cloud virtual private cloud (VPC) through a leased line, you can also perform these operations on your local host.

    • The VPC of the ECS instance must be the same as the VPC that is used by the iSCSI gateway.

  2. Connect to the Windows ECS instance. For more information, see Connect to an instance.

  3. Search for iSCSI and start the iSCSI Initiator program.

  4. Set the iSCSI portal.

    1. In the iSCSI Initiator Properties dialog box, click the Discovery tab, and then click Discover Portal....

      发现门户

    2. In the Discover Target Portal dialog box, enter the IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) and click OK.

You can find the iSCSI gateway in the Alibaba Cloud Cloud Storage Gateway console. In the gateway list, the first row of the Service IP column shows the IPv4 address of the iSCSI gateway, and the second row shows the IPv6 address. The following figure shows an example:ipv6中

      • Enter the IPv4 address in the IP address or DNS name text box, as shown in the following figure:ipv4

      • Enter the IPv6 address in the IP address or DNS name text box, as shown in the following figure:ipv6

The access port is 3260. You can keep the default value. 10.0.0.0 is the IPv4 address of the iSCSI gateway, and 2408:4004:110:6000:4656:f88e:1c14:e578 is the IPv6 address of the iSCSI gateway.

      Note
      • Gateways of v1.6.0 and later support IPv6.

      • Only the China (Hohhot) region supports attaching volumes using an IPv6 address. The VPC and vSwitch that are used by the gateway must support IPv6.

      • Before you attach a volume using an IPv6 address, make sure that an IPv6 address is configured for the ECS client.

      • If the VPC and vSwitch used by an existing gateway support IPv6, you can enable IPv6 for the gateway to obtain an IPv6 address. The IPv6 address is displayed in the second row of the Service IP column. New gateways that are created in this VPC support IPv6 by default and do not need to be enabled.

  5. Connect to the iSCSI volume.

    1. In the iSCSI Initiator Properties dialog box, click the Targets tab, and then click Connect.

      连接

    2. In the Connect To Target dialog box, select the target iSCSI volume and select the Add this connection to the list of Favorite Targets check box.

      连接到目标

    3. (Optional) In the Connect To Target dialog box, click Advanced..., set the CHAP authentication information, and then click OK.

      Note

If you enabled Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) when you created the iSCSI volume, you must set the CHAP authentication information in the Advanced Settings dialog box before you can use the iSCSI volume.

In the Advanced Settings dialog box, select Enable CHAP log on and set the name and target secret.

      • In the Name box, enter the inbound CHAP username that you set when you created the iSCSI volume.

      • In the Target secret box, enter the inbound CHAP password that you set when you created the iSCSI volume.

      CHAP认证

    4. Confirm the connection. If the status of the target iSCSI volume is Connected, the connection is successful.

      确认连接结果

After the connection is successful, you can use the iSCSI volume on the local host.

View a volume

Follow these steps to view a connected iSCSI volume.

  1. Open Computer Management.

  2. Right-click Disk Management and select Rescan Disks to view the newly connected iSCSI volume.

    确认连接结果

Delete a volume

If you no longer need to use an iSCSI volume, you can disconnect it. The corresponding disk will no longer appear on the local computer.

  1. In the iSCSI Initiator Properties dialog box, click the Targets tab, and then click Disconnect.

  2. Confirm the disconnection.

If the status of the target iSCSI volume is Inactive, the disconnection is successful.
