Modify a virtual IP address (CSG)
This topic describes how to select, configure, and modify a virtual IP address.
Prerequisites
You must have created a cross-zone HA file gateway. For more information, see Create a cross-zone HA file gateway.
Cross-availability zone high-availability file gateways are available only in the China (Beijing), China (Shanghai), China (Hangzhou), China (Shenzhen), and China (Hong Kong) regions.
Virtual IP address selection policy
You must select a virtual IP address that meets the following conditions:

It must not conflict with any entries in the route table associated with the vSwitch you specified when you created the gateway.

It must be a private IP address from one of the following RFC 1918 CIDR blocks: 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, or 192.168.0.0/16.

An IP address that conflicts with existing route entries can cause configuration failures or unexpected network connectivity issues.

As a best practice, select a virtual IP address from a CIDR block that is different from the one your VPC uses. This helps avoid potential network conflicts. For example, if your VPC uses the 10.0.0.0/8 CIDR block, select a virtual IP address from the 172.16.0.0/12 or 192.168.0.0/16 CIDR block.
Modify a virtual IP address
You can modify the virtual IP address when the gateway is in a healthy state. The same IP selection policy applies.

In the Cloud Storage Gateway (CSG) console, navigate to the Gateways page. Find the file gateway, click its name, and then click the Virtual IP Address tab.

On the Virtual IP Address tab, click Update VIP.

In the Configure Virtual IP Address dialog box, configure the virtual IP address for the primary node vSwitch.

Select the All Shares Unmounted checkbox, and then click OK. Wait for the virtual IP address to be modified.

Click Refresh to view the updated information.

Before you modify the virtual IP address, you must unmount all shares from the corresponding clients. Failure to do so may cause the clients to become unresponsive.

If the update fails, verify that the new IP address meets the selection policy and that all shares are unmounted. Wait a few moments and then retry the operation.

You can modify the virtual IP address only when the gateway status is Healthy.
