In DAS, a network domain defines a non-Alibaba Cloud network environment connected to DAS through DBGateway.

Functions

If you deploy DBGateway in centralized mode, you must select a network domain to identify the source of your instances.
Centralized DBGateways in the same network domain provide load balancing and disaster recovery.
Using the same network domain for two isolated network environments can cause connection failures, as DBGateways may try to access instances in the other environment.

To create a network domain, go to the instance access page. In the Select Network Type step, set Network Access Type to Public Network (Classic Network) or Virtual Private Cloud (VPC/Dedicated Connection). Then, in the Network Domain section, click Add New Network Domain +. After you complete the configuration, click Generate Deployment Command.

Creation scenarios

Typically, when an on-premises database connects to DAS over a public network by using DBGateway, DAS automatically creates adefault network domain. You only need to create a new network domain for DBGateway in centralized mode in the following cases.

When a new network environment cannot communicate with an existing one.
You need to segment your networks logically, for example, by geographic location such as a city.
