Dataphin access control policy changes - March 20, 2025
Alibaba Cloud is launching enterprise-level administration initiatives across its product lines. These initiatives help stabilize your cloud usage, ensure business continuity for OpenAPI integrations, and manage cloud resources more efficiently. As part of this effort, Dataphin will release an update between 19:00 and 21:00 on March 20, 2025. This update introduces two new Resource Access Management (RAM) control policies for Dataphin. This release may affect your current product usage as follows:
[Change 1] OpenAPI calls: Calls may fail if the required access policy is not granted.
Previous logic: You could call an OpenAPI using your personal AccessKey and AccessSecret, as long as you had the necessary database permissions in Dataphin.
New logic: To call an OpenAPI and retrieve data, the calling account must have both the specified RAM access policy and the necessary database permissions in Dataphin. You must grant one of the following access policies to the account:
AliyunDataphinFullAccess: Grants full management permissions for Dataphin. This includes, but is not limited to, accessing the Dataphin product page and console, configuring AccessKey and AccessSecret information for member account synchronization in the console, and calling all Dataphin OpenAPI operations.
AliyunDataphinReadOnlyAccess: Grants read-only permissions for Dataphin. This includes, but is not limited to, accessing the Dataphin product page and console, and calling read-only OpenAPI operations such as Get, List, and Query.
[Change 2] Console access: You may be unable to access the console if the required access policy is not granted.
Previous logic: All members could access the Dataphin console without authorization.
New logic: The logon account must be granted the AliyunDataphinReadOnlyAccess policy to access the console.
[Change 3] Configuration of AccessKey/AccessSecret for member account synchronization: Control changes from role-based to permission-based.
Previous logic: Only a super administrator could modify the AccessKey and AccessSecret configuration for member account synchronization in the console.
New logic: Any account with the AliyunDataphinFullAccess permission, regardless of whether it is a super administrator, can modify the AccessKey and AccessSecret configuration for automatic member account synchronization in the Dataphin console.
To avoid service interruptions, grant the necessary permissions to the relevant accounts before the new version of Dataphin is released. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

On May 31, 2024, the Dataphin exclusive mode (semi-managed) will be published on the Alibaba Cloud International site, with support for the Singapore site.
New launch: Dataphin exclusive mode (semi-managed) on public cloud - April 2, 2024
Dear Dataphin users,
With Dataphin exclusive mode (semi-managed), in addition to purchasing the Dataphin software, you must also purchase the underlying resources required for deployment. The cloud platform automatically deploys the software in your specified VPC based on the purchased resources. This provides enhanced security and scalability. You can control the timing of version upgrades and the scaling of underlying resources, which allows for flexible and low-cost O&M.
Dataphin exclusive mode (semi-managed) will be launched on the public cloud on April 2, 2024.
The initial launch regions for Dataphin exclusive mode (semi-managed) are China (Beijing), China (Shanghai), China (Shenzhen), and China (Hangzhou).
