Prepare an Alibaba Cloud account

Before utilizing the Dataphin product, it is necessary to set up an Alibaba Cloud account. This topic guides you through creating an Alibaba Cloud account and completing the necessary preparations.

Step 1: Create an Alibaba Cloud account

  1. Visit the official Alibaba Cloud website.

  2. Click Register Now in the upper right corner of the Alibaba Cloud official website.

  3. On the Register Account page, follow the instructions to complete the account registration process.

    The Alibaba Cloud account you create will have full operational control over all resources associated with this account.

    Important

    For the security of your account and password, avoid sharing them with others and update your password regularly.

Step 2: Real-name authentication for the Alibaba Cloud account

Complete the real-name authentication process to ensure smooth subsequent operations. You must authenticate your Alibaba Cloud account before purchasing and using Alibaba Cloud products.

  1. Navigate to the Account Center page.

  2. Click Real-name Authentication in the left-side navigation pane and follow the instructions to complete the authentication process.

    Enterprise users are recommended to complete enterprise authentication for additional benefits. For more information on real-name authentication, see Real-name Authentication.

Step 3: Create an AccessKey pair

Important

  • Keep the AccessKey ID and AccessKey Secret secure and do not share them. Disable or update the AccessKey promptly if there is a risk of exposure.

  • The AccessKey pair is only displayed upon creation and cannot be retrieved later. It is recommended to note down the AccessKey pair and keep it confidential.

  • Disabling an AccessKey pair may cause services using it to fail. Exercise caution when performing this operation and check the status of services using the AccessKey pair if its status changes.

Creating an AccessKey pair is essential for the normal operation of subsequent jobs. This key, which consists of the AccessKey ID and AccessKey Secret, is used for authentication between Alibaba Cloud products and is separate from your account login credentials.

  1. Proceed to the AccessKey management page.

  2. On the AccessKey page, click the Create Accesskey button. In the Confirm That The Accesskey Being Created Is Only For Rotation dialog box, select the purpose for creating the AccessKey, then select I Confirm That I Must Create An Accesskey, click Continue To Create, and in the Mobile Verification dialog box, obtain the verification code and click Confirm. The system will automatically create the AccessKey.

  3. In the Create Accesskey dialog box, click Download CSV File or Copy to save the AccessKey information, and then click Confirm.

  4. View the status of the created AccessKey and manage it, such as enabling or disabling, on the AccessKey page.

What to do next

  • If you need to authorize other personnel to use Dataphin, you should also create a RAM user for secure management. For details on creating RAM users, see Prepare RAM Users.

  • If you are the sole user of Dataphin, please proceed to activate Dataphin. For more information on activation, see Activate Dataphin.

    Note

    It is advisable to create a RAM user and manage Dataphin through this user to address potential permission management issues as your business grows.
