Before using Dataphin, you must configure a compute engine for your instance. This process involves setting the cluster endpoint for the instance. The compute engine is used to manage metadata during data development. This topic describes how to configure the compute engine.
Background information
Dataphin compute engines include an offline computing engine (MaxCompute) and a real-time computing engine (Alibaba Cloud Flink VVP). Before you create a compute source, you must complete the compute settings and confirm that the endpoints for the MaxCompute and Flink clusters are correct.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure that you have activated Dataphin. For more information, see Activate Dataphin.
Procedure
Log on to the Dataphin console with your Alibaba Cloud account.
On the Dataphin console page, select a region for the workspace, and then click Enter Dataphin>>.
On the Dataphin homepage, click Management Hub in the top menu bar.
On the Management Hub page, click System Settings in the top menu bar.
On the System Settings page, click Compute Settings in the navigation pane on the left.
On the Compute Settings page, in the MaxCompute section, configure the MaxCompute endpoint based on the region of your Dataphin instance. For more information, see Endpoints.
Click Validate. Dataphin automatically checks whether the region of the configured endpoint matches the region of the current Dataphin instance.
After the validation is successful, click Confirm and Start Data Development.
What to do next
After you set the compute engine for the Dataphin instance, you can prepare the data sources and compute sources for data development. Data sources are used to read and write data, and compute sources provide compute resources. For more information, see Prepare data sources and compute sources.
