Dataphin launch in Chengdu - August 13, 2025
To support Data Development and Data Governance in more regions, Dataphin is now available in the China (Chengdu) Region. This launch applies to the shared, fully managed edition of the service. You can activate the service in the new Region through the Console.
Dataphin permission policy changes - March 20, 2025
As part of an Alibaba Cloud-wide initiative to enhance enterprise-level governance, we are updating Dataphin to improve the stability of your Cloud Service Links, ensure business continuity for API integrations, and provide more efficient management of Cloud Resources. On March 20, 2025, between 19:00 and 21:00 (UTC+8), we will introduce two new RAM Policies for Dataphin. This update may affect how you use the product. Please review the following changes:
Change 1: API calls. API calls may fail if the required RAM Policy is not granted.
Previous behavior: Users only needed data permissions within Dataphin to call APIs using their personal AccessKey/AccessSecret.
New behavior: To successfully call an API and retrieve data, the calling account must have both the required RAM Policy and the necessary data permissions within Dataphin. You can grant one of the following policies to the account:
AliyunDataphinFullAccess: Grants full administrative access to Dataphin. This policy grants permissions to access the Dataphin product page and Console, configure the AccessKey/AccessSecret for Member Account synchronization in the Console, and call all Dataphin APIs.
AliyunDataphinReadOnlyAccess: Grants read-only access to Dataphin. This policy grants permissions to access the Dataphin product page and Console, and call read-only Dataphin APIs (such as Get, List, and Query operations).
Change 2: Console access. Access to the Console may be denied if the required RAM Policy is not granted.
Previous behavior: All members could access the Dataphin Console without requiring a specific RAM Policy.
New behavior: The logged-in account must be granted the AliyunDataphinReadOnlyAccess policy to access the Console.
Change 3: Configuration of AccessKey/AccessSecret for Member Account synchronization. Control is shifting from a role-based model to a permission-based model.
Previous behavior: Only a Super Administrator could configure the AccessKey/AccessSecret used for synchronizing member accounts in the Console.
New behavior: Any account with the AliyunDataphinFullAccess permission can configure the AccessKey/AccessSecret for automatic Member Account synchronization in the Dataphin Console, not just a Super Administrator.
To avoid service disruptions, please grant the necessary permissions to the relevant accounts before this update. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
DPU expansion and Data Extraction retirement - July 11, 2023
As of July 11, 2023, the following changes apply to Dataphin offerings:
The Intelligent Development Edition and Basic Development Edition now support additional Data Processing Unit (DPU) specifications: 3500, 4000, 4500, and 5000 DPUs.
The Data Extraction feature is retired. New purchases and upgrades for this feature are no longer supported. Existing customers can continue to use this value-added feature and renew their subscriptions without interruption.
Dataphin price reduction - November 8, 2022

To reflect our increased investment in Data Governance, Dataphin has been officially renamed 'Intelligent Data Development and Governance Dataphin'. This change highlights our focus on helping enterprises build a robust Data Middle Platform. For more details, see the Dataphin Name Change Notice.
Dataphin general availability - May 20, 2020
The Public Beta for Dataphin concluded on May 19, 2020. The service entered General Availability (GA) on May 20, 2020.
Data Synchronization upgraded to Data Integration - April 9, 2020
For customers who purchased Dataphin after April 2020, Data Integration replaces the former Data Synchronization feature. The entry point for Data Synchronization has been removed from the system. Data Integration enhances the original synchronization functionality with support for more Data Source types, Data Cleansing, batch synchronization, and Logical Table synchronization.
