Custom Attributes Enable Fine-Grained Asset Management
Scenario Description
In enterprise data management, business users rely on asset attributes to assess requirements and quickly locate target assets. As the number of assets grows, users require more flexible attribute configuration. For example, they want the “Responsible Department” attribute for an asset to remain in real-time alignment with the organization’s department structure. They also want the “Dashboard” attribute for a metric to support hyperlinks, enabling one-click navigation to a QBI dashboard.
Solutions and Features
The Attribute Management feature offers flexible configuration options. You can configure attribute values as multi-select options or hyperlinks. You can also reference system attributes as enumeration options to address complex business scenarios.
Go to Planning > Attribute Management. Select a table or dashboard object. On the Object Attributes page, click Create Custom Attribute. In the Create Attribute dialog box, add a Responsible Department attribute for table assets. Reference the Department system attribute as the enumeration value. Also configure a hyperlink attribute for dashboard assets.
After creating the custom attributes, go to Assets > Directory Management > Tables/Dashboard, and then open the Provisional Assets tab. Click the Edit icon in the Actions column for the target asset. On the Asset Edit page, add the new attribute values. For table assets, the Responsible Department attribute automatically aligns with the department structure maintained in the system. For dashboard assets, enter a name and URL in the View Link attribute to create a clickable hyperlink.
After publishing an asset, use Asset Directory > Tables/Dashboard > More Filters to select the relevant filter condition. This quickly narrows the asset list and helps you find the exact asset you need.
Click an asset name. On the Asset Details page, click Attribute Information to view the custom attribute values. If a hyperlink attribute is configured, click it to navigate directly to the linked page and improve efficiency.
