Create and manage asset topics
Asset topics enable centralized management of created topics and their associated directories, enhancing the efficiency of topic management. This topic describes the steps for creating and managing asset topics.
Prerequisites
Table asset: The intelligent R&D edition has been enabled or the value-added module of asset operation - Standard Edition has been purchased.
Metric asset/dashboard asset: The intelligent R&D edition has been enabled or the value-added module of asset operation - Pro has been purchased.
API asset: The intelligent R&D edition has been enabled or the value-added module of asset operation - Pro has been purchased, and the data service feature has been purchased.
Limits
Supports creating directories with up to 10 levels.
Permission description
Super administrators, operation administrators, and custom global roles with Catalog Design-Management permissions can view, create, and manage asset topics and manage the directories of asset topics.
Topic administrators can manage the asset topics they have created, including editing basic information of the topic, managing the scope of visibility, managing topic directories, and other operations.
Create a new topic
In the top menu bar on the Dataphin home page, select Asset > Directory Management.
You can create separate asset topics and directories for different assets. The creation methods for metric topics, API topics, dashboard topics, and table topics are the same. The following describes the process using table topics as an example.
In the left navigation bar, select Catalog Design > Catalog Design. In the topic list on the Table Directory tab, click the
icon to enter the Create New Asset Topic dialog box.In the Create New Asset Topic dialog box, configure the parameters.
Parameter
Description
Topic Name
Enter the name of the asset topic. The topic name must be unique and no more than 256 characters.
Description
Enter the background information of the asset topic to help relevant personnel quickly understand it. No more than 512 characters.
Topic Administrator
The default is the current user. You can select users in normal status under the current tenant.
Visible To
Determines whether the asset topic is visible in the asset directory. Supports two visibility scopes:
Visible To All: All users under this tenant can view the asset topic.
Visible To Topic Administrators And Specified Members: Supports topic administrators and specified members viewing the asset topic. Members can be specified by user or user group.
Select by user: Select users in normal status under the current tenant.
Select by user group: You can select user groups in normal and enabled status. Members are automatically updated with changes in user group members. To create a user group, see Create and manage user groups.
Publish Approval
Default is off. When enabled, the topic must be approved before it can be published.
Click OK to complete the creation of the asset topic.
Manage asset topics
The page display of metric directories, API directories, and dashboard directories is consistent with that of table directories. The following describes the process using table directories as an example.
You can view the configured asset topics on the Table Directory tab and perform operations such as editing and deleting.

②Topic Basic Information | Displays the name, administrator, visibility scope, publish approval, and description information of the asset topic. You can also perform edit and delete operations on the asset topic.

③Directory List | Displays the publish status, name, description, last updated by, and last updated time information of the published online directories. You can expand the directory to view the subdirectory information belonging to the current directory. You can also perform operations such as publishing topics or editing directories.

Manage directories of asset topics
Directories can help you perform more fine-grained analysis and management of assets, allowing you to search for assets more quickly and accurately and better manage asset operations. The management methods for metric directories, API directories, and dashboard directories are consistent with those of table directories. The following describes the process using table directories as an example.
On the Dataphin home page, select Asset > Directory Management in the top menu bar.
Click Directory Planning in the left navigation bar, then click Edit Directory.
On the Edit Directory page, click the Create First-level Directory button to create a directory.
Parameter
Description
Directory Name
Enter the name of the directory. Directories at the same level in the same directory cannot have the same name. No more than 128 characters.
Directory Description
Enter the relevant description of the directory. No more than 128 characters.
Click the Save
icon to complete the creation of the directory.
You can perform operations such as editing, deleting, and moving on the created directories on the edit directory page.

Publish | When there are changes such as adding, editing, deleting, or moving in the directory, the first-level directory to which the changed directory belongs must be published to take effect. Note

Move | Supports moving the parent directory to which the directory belongs. Cross-topic directory moves are not supported. Note The status of the source directory and the target directory must be not in publishing or under approval. |
Delete | After deleting a directory, the current directory and its subdirectories will be deleted synchronously, and the status will change to pending publish (deleted). Click the Publish Topic button to complete the deletion of the directory. If the topic has enabled approval, the directory can only be successfully deleted after approval. Note

Revoke Approval | If the topic has enabled publish approval, you can revoke directories that are under approval. |
View Approval | Click the View Approval icon to jump to the Task Center to view the approval progress of the approval order. |
Restore Deletion | After restoring deletion, the directory and its subdirectories in the pending publish (deleted) status will be restored to the state before deletion. Note When restoring deleted directories in batches, the system will automatically ignore directories that are being published or under approval. |
What to do next
