Create and manage entities

An entity is a distinguishable, independent item such as a person, place, company, or device. You can create and manage entities in Dataphin.

Entity management overview

The entity management page consists of the feature area and the entity list for managing your entities.

Feature area

  • Filter: Filter entities by owner.

  • Search: Search for entities by keyword.

  • Add entity: Click Add Entity to create a new entity. For detailed steps, see .

  • Refresh: Click the image icon to refresh the entity list.

Entity list

Displays entities with details including Entity Name/code, Associated ID, Owner, Created At, Entity Description, and available Actions. You can perform the following operations:

  • Edit: Click the image icon to edit an entity. Note that the Entity Code cannot be modified.

  • Delete: Click the image..png icon to delete an entity. Entities associated with an ID cannot be deleted.

Create an entity

  1. Navigate to the Dataphin home page, click Planning > Tag Architecture from the top menu bar.

  2. To access the New Entity dialog box, follow these steps:

    Click Entity Management > Add Entity in sequence.

  3. In the New Entity dialog box, fill in the required information for the entity.

    Parameter

    Description

    Entity Name

    Enter the name of the entity. The name can include Chinese and English characters, numbers, underscores (_), and hyphens (-), up to 64 characters.

    Entity Code

    Enter a unique identifier for the entity. The code must start with a letter and can contain lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores, up to 64 characters.

    Owner

    Select the entity owner from the Dataphin member list. The owner must be an active user.

    Entity Description

    Provide a brief description of the entity, up to 1000 characters.

  4. Click OK to create the entity.
