Create a notebook
This topic explains how to create a notebook on the Dataphin analysis platform.
Permissions
You can select only Dev or Basic projects in your account. The project must be bound to an offline engine, and you must have permission to run ad-hoc queries in the project.
Procedure
In the top navigation bar of the Dataphin console, choose Analyze > Notebook.
In the notebook list, click the
icon to open the Create Notebook dialog box.In the Create Notebook dialog box, configure the following parameters.

Description
Notebook Name
The name can be up to 256 characters long and cannot contain the following characters: vertical bars (|), forward slashes (/), backslashes (\), colons (:), question marks (?), angle brackets (<>), asterisks (*), or double quotation marks (").
Directory
Select a directory to store the notebook.
If a directory does not exist, you can create a new folder. Follow these steps:
Above the notebook list on the left side of the page, click the
icon to open the New Folder dialog box.In the New Folder dialog box, enter a Name for the folder and optionally select a location.
Click OK.
Click OK to create the notebook.
Multi-engine environments
When you create a notebook in a multi-engine environment, if you select Project Data, you must also select an Execution Project, which involves selecting a cluster and a project. Other parameters are the same as in a single-engine environment. For details about the other parameters, see the preceding sections.
Cluster: You can select a cluster from the current tenant or select the Cluster-less Project option. You cannot change the cluster after creating the notebook.
Project: Select a project from the selected cluster or a dedicated analysis project. Dedicated analysis projects are named
{Cluster Name} Analysis Projectfor clusters andCluster-less Independent Analysis Projectfor cluster-less environments.
After you select an execution project, the engine type of the selected project appears at the bottom of the page.
